She explained that she was originally from Dares-salaam and wanted to know what I, mtu wa
bara kutoka Kenya, was doing in Tanzania and
if indeed we were taking all the plum Tanzanian
jobs. Lakini jamani, mbona hamna hata aibu
nyinyi waKenya? she asked. She seemed to switch
to Kiswahili every time she had the most probing
and sincere questions. The more mundane issues
were discussed in English which she spoke well,
even though a little less confidently. Her Swahili
on the other hand was so perfect, I wished I could
similarly explain fluently and compellingly that
Kenyans are in fact not hyenas.
Sisi sio fisi. I started to say, Tuna roho safi pia
kama wengine then I hesitated as I searched
for the words to explain that we were actually
the victims of stereotypes that were created at
a certain time when some of the accusations
that resulted in this image may have held some
truth. Her eye contact was captivating and she
genuinely wanted to know not because she
could do anything about Tanzanian jobs being

LOCATIONS
Sheikh Amri Abeid Karume stadium will be the
Festival site. Familiarise yourself with the site
map of Arusha and the festival village at the end
of the programme so you dont miss the venue
or any event.

are included in this booklet.
ZINDUKA FESTIVAL MILESTONES

alongside each session description. Kindly
observe time to avoid disappointments.

We stick to the venues indicated in the
programme unless in the event of unavoidable
circumstances.

for the sole purpose of promoting Zinduka
Festival.
SECURITY
All efforts have been put in place to ensure
maximum security on site. However, you
are advised to take care of your personal
belongings and report any suspicious activity or
persons to the nearest Festival official(in green
reflectors) or security personnel. We will not
take responsibility for any losses or damage of
personal property.

Every year we line up dozens of events for families, youth and industry
covering everything from a half marathon, caravans, road shows,
street processions, exhibitions, great speakers, concerts, self organized
convenings, gala night, awards and many more.
The third edition of Zinduka Festival, #ZindukaFest2015 will build on
the successes of the 2013, 2014 editions promising to be the largestever gathering of participants from the five East African countries
drawn from different backgrounds and sectors.
