SPOTS: MELASMAS OR CHLOASMAS?!

MELASMA is a skin pigmenta;on of brown whose causes increased produc;on of

melanin. Areas of the body aected by this hyper-pigmenta;on are, basically, the neck
and the face, and if they appear during pregnancy are called CHLOASMAS. MELASMA OR
CHLOASMA, then, are two synonyms which iden;fy the same physical and aesthe;c
problem. This imperfec;on mainly aects women with fair skin and can be caused by
several factors.

How do you form the stain physiologically?

The stain is the result of a change in load of the
forma;on of the pigment MELANIN.

The produc;on of melanin undergoes the inuence of:

vExternal environmental factors such as the SUN
vGENETIC FACTORS
vHORMONAL FACTORS
vBIOLOGICAL AGING

as reduc;on of an;oxidant capacity, there is less ability to neutralize the toxins

produced by the body.

Melanin is produced by our skin through a biochemical

process called MELANOGENESIS that occurs in special
cells called MELANOCYTES.

IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF MELANOGENESIS:

Underlying the synthesis of melanogenesis there is
TYROSINASE,
the enzyme that triggers the forma;on of the pigment melanin.

AN EXCESSIVE TYROSINASE ACTIVITY DETERMINE

THE FORMATION OF STAIN

THE SOLUTION TO THE PROFESSIONAL & AT HOME

KOJIC ACID

It is a natural substance produced by certain fungi of the genus

"aspergillum" and "Penicillium".
The cosme;c use is interes;ng, as it has a depigmen;ng ac;vity, as it
eliminates the melanin already present in the epidermis and especially
inhibits the further synthesis.

Inhibits the ac;on of tyrosinase

CITRIC ACID

Alpha hydroxy acid with an;oxidant and depigmen;ng ac;on.

Neutralizes free radicals and prevents the development of melanin.

Inhibits the forma;on of melanosomes (melanin granules mature)

ASCORBIC ACID

Vitamin C, for depigmen;ng and an;oxidant ac;ons blocks free radicals, linked to
photoaging,

inhibits tyrosinase, slows down the process of melanogenesis.

LACTIC ACID

Alpha hydroxy acid.

Facilitates desquama;on of kera;nocytes (exfoliant) hyperpigmented, and
accelerates cell renewal.

Scrubbing ac;on that helps in removing the stain.

PHYTIC ACID

Organic acid.
Binds to metal ions (copper and iron), inhibi;ng the ac;vity of tyrosinase and the
forma;on of melanin by melanocytes.

Modulates the ac;on of tyrosinase

KUDZU SYMBIOZONE

Kudzu symbiozome extract is a good reducer of the concentra;on of melanin and
has an an;oxidant ac;on that neutralizes free radicals, slowing the ini;a;on of
melanogenesis.

An;oxidant.

LIGHTOCEAN

Natural extract derived from brown seaweed Halidris siliquosa.

The Lightocean modulates skin pigmenta;on by ac;ng at dierent steps in
melanogenesis:

Inhibits tyrosinase
Inhibits the matura;on of melanin granules (melanosomes)
Neutralizes free radicals

Powerful depigmen;ng agent.

ARBUTIN

Inhibits the forma;on of melanin by inhibi;ng Tyrosinase.

Inhibits the ac;on of tyrosinase.

HOW TO USE

SPOTAWAY mask can be applied the same day of the visit, without prior
prepara;on. A[er the session may resume social and professional ac;vity
immediately, as the maximum side eect is ushing like a sunburn and peeling
back surface that appears a[er the second day of exposure to SPOTAWAY mask.

4. Leave SPOTAWAY mask exposed 8-12 hours depending on skin type and your skin type.
Over half of the exhibi;on is recommended to remove the mask with nger;ps to turn back
the absorp;on of ac;ve depigmen;ng ingredients.
According skin phototype, the exposure ;me of the mask must be:

RECOMMENDED EXPOSURE TIMES:

Phototype I - II - 3 hours
Phototype III - IV 4/6 hours
Phototype V - VI 6/8 hours

During this period the pa;ent may no;ce s;nging sensa;on.
If this feeling was very strong and genereara discomfort, the professional must remove the
mask with cold water.

The pa;ent can go home as long as recommended by the professional.

5. When the ;me of exposure, remove the product with cold water.
6. Apply an an;stress mask for 15 minutes. Remove with an hydra;ng tonic and apply a
regenera;ng cream. This will reduce redness and calm down produce a pleasant eect on
the treated area.

SECOND PHASE: HOMECARE

This phase consists of applying the SPOTAWAY maintenance home cream, in
order to enhance the whitening. SPOTAWAY Cream is a whitening cream
formulated to reduce and eliminate skin blemishes of melanic origin located in
the epidermal layer and ac;ng progressively on epidermal pigmented skin
resul;ng in a uniform color.

7. Apply uniformly a thin layer SPOTAWAY Cream three ;mes a day (morning,
midday and night) during the 1st and 2nd week a[er treatment in the cabin.
8. During the 3rd and 4th weeks, apply SPOTAWAY Cream twice daily (morning
and night).
9. From the 5th week apply the cream once a day to achieve op;mal results.

During the en;re treatment it is advisable to use some PHOTO-PROTECTOR or
sunscreen to prevent external aggression related to solar radia;on.
To reduce the possible tension that may occur due to treatment, can be toggled
using a regenera;ng cream and an An;aging cream, rich in essen;al nutrients to
boost skin's natural defenses and an;radicalares proper;es.
