Is the child:

• Engaging with toys (objects) or me?

• Reacting or initiating interactions?

• Opening and closing a few circles of communication or heading

toward a continuous flow?

• Labeling or creating his own new ideas in play conversations?

• Marching to his own drummer or responding to my ideas as well

as his own?
