International Festival
Children are painting the World. Asia
(September 2016, Almaty, Kazakhstan)

In 2016 the cultural capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan Almaty city welcomes participants of
UNESCOs International Festival Children are painting the World. Asia. Almaty has been playing an
important role in the region as a cultural, historical and touristic place on the Silk Way roads for a long
time; it is the largest megalopolis that is situated in the centre of Eurasian continent. Festival Children
are painting the World. Asia 2015-2016 is dedicated to the celebration of 1000th Anniversary of
Almaty city, which was included by the decision of the 38th UNESCO General Conference to the list of
UNESCOs memorial dates.
The Festival as a form of Art Forum for childrens art schools, art studios, initiative
representatives of partner organizations and UNESCO Clubs, has a strong basis in Central Asia
and dedicated to the celebration of UNESCOs memorial date - 1000th anniversary of Almaty
city. Thanks to the support of the Asian Pacific Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations
(AFUCA), delegations of youth from Central Asia and Asia-Pacific countries (Bangladesh, China,
India, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Russia, Tajikistan, Thailand,
Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Japan, etc.) will take part in the Festival, which will be
organized in the framework of the 23rd Session of the AFUCA Executive Board meeting.
Mission:

Support and development of talented youth, promotion of the intercultural dialogue and
understanding, strengthening and extension of cultural ties between young generations of the
region.
Main goals:

strengthening of friendly relations between participating countries;

ensuring of succession of the best traditions in education of internationalism and


mutual understanding between young citizens of the international community;

extension and strengthening of international creative ties between groups and


individuals, interaction and enrichment of children and young people from different
countries, exchange of experience, enhancement of professional skills;

providing the possibility to demonstrate artistic capabilities, skills, imagination and


individuality;

introduction of participants to new technics and materials, new trends in creative


work;

engagement in work with children the best masters in art, science and culture.

Entry requirements:
Participants: children aged 3-17.
Technics: free.
Size: free.
Number of art works, provided by each country:
Total number: 100 works, by following categories:
3-6 years 20 works
7-8 years 20 works
8-9 years 20 works
10-13 years 20 works
14-17 years 20 works
All participants should submit their artwork to the National Federations of UNESCO Clubs
in each country before April 15, 2016. It is necessary to attach the completed entry form in
English on the back of the artwork (Annex 1).
Categories of art forms:

Graphics;

Painting;

Sculpture;

Applied arts (artistic ceramic, wood carving, metal carving, leather crafting, batik,
tapestry, etc.);

National applied arts (musical instruments, textile, etc.);

Design of costume, interior, landscape, industrial and graphic design;


Note: If the artwork cannot be transported to Organizing Committee for the final screening by
any reason (big size, weight, etc.), it should be photographed and sent as a digital data with
exact name of the author in accordance with the attached list of participants. (Format of the
photo JPG, size not less than 2 MB)

Submission of the artworks for the Final Screening:


1. Selected works must be sent to the Organizing Committee of the Festival - Secretariat of
Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs in Almaty no later than May 1, 2016 by any
express post service (PONY EXPRESS, DHL, EMS, etc.).
2. All artworks must be original, without framing and not be rolled. Damaged artworks will
not be evaluated by the Jury.
3. On the back of the artworks necessary to attach the completed entry form in English. (Annex 1)
4. Each participating country must enclosed in post parcel:
- selected artworks (finalists of the regional round);
- protocol of commission of regional round, signed by the regional coordinator of the
country;
- covering letter from the National Federation of UNESCO Clubs.
5. The list of selected artworks must be sent in electronic version to the following address:

6. Submitted to the Festival artworks will not be returned and any kind of their copyrights,
including the right to reproduce, photograph, exhibit, lease, translation and disposal , will be
transferred to the Organizing Committee represented by KazFUCA.
In case of non-compliance of one of these items, artworks will not be considered by the
Jury!

Results:
- All participants will be awarded with Certificate for participation
- Finalists, whose works will be included in the album - Diploma
- Organizers of regional selection rounds - Gratitude letter
- Five winners from each country will be invited to the Festival (September 2016, Almaty,
Kazakhstan)
Album Children are painting the World. Asia, dedicated to the celebration of UNESCOs
memorial date 1000th Anniversary of Almaty city, will be published.
(September 2016).
II Stage: International Festival
Children are painting the World. Asia

Organization:

Five winners and one guardians from each participating country will receive an official
invitation to the Festival from the Organizing Committee.

All participants will receive special uniform (T-shirt). Uniform is an obligatory


element in time of common events in the framework of the project.

Representative of Organizing Committee constantly works with participants that helps


children adapt to temporary collective, promotes coordination of participation in events of the
Festivals program, and promotes childrens observance of established regime and internal
rules.

Members of Organizing Committee help groups of representatives from different


countries create positive psychological microclimate, atmosphere of respect and mutual

understanding, constructive socializing and common interests, conditions for development of


individual and communicative capabilities of children.

State of health will be controlled by medical specialists.


Programme of the Festival will include:

exchange of experience between children and teachers;

friendly and cultural parties, flash-mobs and charity activities;

interactive trainings and workshops with the masters of fine arts;

discussions, trainings, master-classes on communication skills;

master-classes and lectures of specialists in the sphere of culture and art;

exhibition of winners artworks;

Gala Awarding Ceremony of the winners of the Festival;

presentation of the Album Children are painting the World. Asia.
