Children are painting the World. Asia

In 2016 the cultural capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan Almaty city welcomes participants of
UNESCOs International Festival Children are painting the World. Asia. Almaty has been playing an
important role in the region as a cultural, historical and touristic place on the Silk Way roads for a long
time; it is the largest megalopolis that is situated in the centre of Eurasian continent. Festival Children
are painting the World. Asia 2015-2016 is dedicated to the celebration of 1000th Anniversary of
Almaty city, which was included by the decision of the 38th UNESCO General Conference to the list of
UNESCOs memorial dates.
The Festival as a form of Art Forum for childrens art schools, art studios, initiative
representatives of partner organizations and UNESCO Clubs, has a strong basis in Central Asia
and dedicated to the celebration of UNESCOs memorial date - 1000th anniversary of Almaty
city. Thanks to the support of the Asian Pacific Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations
(AFUCA), delegations of youth from Central Asia and Asia-Pacific countries (Bangladesh, China,
India, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Russia, Tajikistan, Thailand,
Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Japan, etc.) will take part in the Festival, which will be
organized in the framework of the 23rd Session of the AFUCA Executive Board meeting.
Mission:
Support and development of talented youth, promotion of the intercultural dialogue and
understanding, strengthening and extension of cultural ties between young generations of the
region.
Main goals:
engagement in work with children the best masters in art, science and culture.

Number of art works, provided by each country:
Total number: 100 works, by following categories:
3-6 years 20 works
7-8 years 20 works
8-9 years 20 works
10-13 years 20 works
14-17 years 20 works
All participants should submit their artwork to the National Federations of UNESCO Clubs
in each country before April 15, 2016. It is necessary to attach the completed entry form in
English on the back of the artwork (Annex 1).
Categories of art forms:
Graphics;
Painting;
Sculpture;
Applied arts (artistic ceramic, wood carving, metal carving, leather crafting, batik,
tapestry, etc.);
Organization:
Five winners and one guardians from each participating country will receive an official
invitation to the Festival from the Organizing Committee.
