LET'S ENHANCE THINKING,

NOT DICTATE IT.
How can design and fiber arts create an experience that,
produces a provocative perception about the unconscious
binary oppositions, created by the cultures we live in?

So our intention is to create a capsule collection of streetwear fashion based garments.

The experience is everything that come out of the brand. from the packaging to the fashion show.

I took me a while to realize that the fashion show wasn't the complete experience, just a part of it.

In the artist statement we also talk about who design and fiber are being synthesized to create this experience.

We want to create an experience that isn't dogmatic of our opinion but invites our audience to theorize, reveal, and play. Allowing the audience to think about the binary oppositions crated.

RESEARCH & INSPIRATION

I started with research on Traditional Japanese and Ancient Egyptian wear.

I got a chance to visit the Moma and the MET while I was in NYC, which enhanced my findings.

I felt that these cultures were interesting due to their sense of androgyny in fashion.

For example a lot of The men wore makeup and skirts.

We are also pulling colors from these ancient cultures as well as from nature. Since nature in one of the under lying essences of our being.

In my philosophy, the word androgyny doesn't

have any meaning. I think there is no dierence
between men and women. We are dierent in
body, but sense, spirit and soul are the same.
Yohji Yamamoto

I This a quote I found by designer YY

He explains his thoughts on androgyny, I think he hit the nail on the head.

I These are brands / sights Ive be keeping up with. Because I feel they are doing a nice job of blending the streetwear and high fashion world.

Thats something we are looking to do as well. Me coming from more of the streetwear perspective and luis coming from the High-fashioned mens wear perspective.

PROGRESS & PROCESS

This is just some of the process we have made.

This is the artist proposal form I put together over break. We are using this to try and find a space for us to have the show.

So far we have submitted to Leedy Volkus and they said yes, however we would have to pay for the space because it is not gallery show.

We are also in Contact with Red Lady Gallery, and it looks like they might be down! *fingers crossed*

1/26/15

2/2/16

Sat down with luis, and designed a new line based o one pre existing garment he had made last semester.

Last Week we got to the dying phase and started putting outfits together using a spreadsheet.

Sango

I quickly wanted to share some of the musical vibes we are thinking about using during the show.

Were really into to this united, up-beat, cultured feeling that Sango played out.

Sam suggested making our own music, which is possible but not a definite.

We have the process blog going right now & the instagram launched its first post on Saturday!

The IG is something I want to design as an process experience leading up to the show.

AUDIENCE

People Like YouKinda

I want!

Artist/Designers Are Part Of an Elite Culture (I mean this humbly) With that being said, we would like to create and experience that lends to both the contemporary art/design community, and the outsiders looking in.

Clothing, Fashion, Fibers Enthusiast.

This is the Schedule for the rest of the semester.
