2016 Hispanic-Latino/a/x

Hall of Fame Application


Students must have initiative; they should not be mere imitators. They must learn to think and act for
themselves and be free. Cesar Chavez
The Hispanic-Latino/a/x Hall of Fame recognizes outstanding leaders who have devoted themselves
to representing and advancing the Hispanic-Latino community at the University of Florida. Their
contributions are seen across campus and are felt even after they graduate. They reflect a sense of
permanence and positive change. The Hall of Fame highlights these individuals efforts at the
University through a commemorative ceremony as well as their names engraved on the Hall of
Fame plaque located at the Hispanic-Latino Engagement Center under the office of HispanicLatino Affairs.
Qualifications:
1) Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of a 2.75.
2) Must have earned at least 60 credits at the University of Florida and completed at least one
full academic year at the University of Florida prior to the application deadline.
3) Must submit a completed online application and required supplemental
documents by the deadline. Late applications will NOT be considered.
4) Must submit an activity resume highlighting your leadership, advocacy, and/or service
experiences.
5) Must submit letter of recommendation from faculty or staff at the University of Florida outside
of Hispanic-Latino Affairs.
6) Must submit an unofficial transcript. This will only be used to confirm credit hours
completed and GPA.
Criteria:
1) Shall excel in two out of three areas:
1. Leadership
2. Advocacy
3. Service
2) Write an essay that addresses the prompts below:

How have you demonstrated meaningful involvement that directly benefits the
Hispanic-Latino community through leadership, advocacy, or service.

How have you demonstrated meaningful involvement with the UF and/or Gainesville
community, outside of the Hispanic-Latino Community, though leadership, advocacy, or
service.

3) Essay must be typed double spaced with 1-inch margins and a maximum of 3 pages.
