This week we celebrated the Lunar New Year-year of the monkey. This was kicked
off by a great event at the Hilton on Kearny Street. This is an exciting time and the
officers at Central Station have been preparing the plan for the Chinese New
Years Parade which is scheduled for Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.
Because the Central Police District boarder expanded last July, we have
responsibility for the entire parade, including the start at 2nd and Market Streets.
Our message to those attending is to not leave valuables in your vehicle and
safeguard personal property. We had just a few incidents last year which wasnt
that bad considering the size of the crowd.
Memorial walk for Roy Mottini
There will be a memorial walk for one of our North Beach residents who recently
passed away. The walk begins at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at
Broadway and Montgomery. Officers will be on hand to ensure a safe and
successful tribute to Roy.
Fire Alarm
This morning I witnessed a person press a fire alarm, falsely reporting a fire. It
happened on my way to the station. I was traveling East on Pacific approaching
Mason and was waiting on the red light. I noticed a man standing outside of the
laundry mat and I observed he wasnt wearing any shoes. I saw him walk over to
the fire pole, remove the plastic covering, press the alarm, and then lean against
the wall of the laundry mat. When he heard the sirens, he went back into the
laundry mat and began folding his clothes. I pulled over and when the fire
department arrived, I called in some officers and we arrested the person.

Community Walk
This evening I will be walking with members of the community starting at 8:00 p.m. beginning at Hyde and
California. Please feel free to join us as we look at some of the quality of life issues around the neighborhood.
We missed the newsletter last week with everything going on. We will feature our Officer and Citizen of
the month in next weeks newsletter.
Have a great Holiday weekend!
