“ #11. Entering God’s Rest ”

Matthew 11:28 (NASB) 28"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will
give you rest.

Exodus 31:13-16 (NASB) 13"But as for you, speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘You
shall surely observe My Sabbaths; for this is a sign between Me and you throughout your
generations, that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you. 14'Therefore you
are to observe the Sabbath, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be
put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his
people. 15 'For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a Sabbath of
complete rest, holy to the LORD; whoever does any work on the Sabbath day shall surely
be put to death. 16 'So the sons of Israel shall observe the Sabbath, to celebrate the Sabbath
throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant.'

Exodus 20:10 (NASB) 10but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the LORD your God; in it
you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female
servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you.

Isaiah 58:13, 14 (NASB) 13"If because of the Sabbath, you turn your foot From doing
your own pleasure on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a delight, the holy day of the
LORD honorable, And honor it, desisting from your own ways, From seeking your own
pleasure And speaking your own word, 14Then you will take delight in the LORD, And I
will make you ride on the heights of the earth; And I will feed you with the heritage of
Jacob your father, For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."

Genesis 1:31-2:1-3 (NASB) 31God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very
good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. 1Thus the heavens
and the earth were completed, and all their hosts. 2By the seventh day God completed
His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which
He had done. 3Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested
from all His work which God had created and made.

Genesis 1:27, 31 (NASB) 27God created man in His own image, in the image of God He
created him; male and female He created them. 31God saw all that He had made, and
behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

Genesis 1:28 (NASB) 28God blessed them; and God said to them, "Be fruitful and
multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the
birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out of there by a mighty hand and by an
outstretched arm; therefore the LORD your God commanded you to observe the Sabbath
day.

Hebrews 3:19 (NASB) 19So we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.

Hebrews 4:1,2 (NASB) 1Therefore, let us fear if, while a promise remains of entering
His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short of it. 2For indeed we have had
good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them,
because it was not united by faith in those who heard.

Hebrews 4:4 (NASB) 4For He has said somewhere concerning the seventh day: "AND
GOD RESTED ON THE SEVENTH DAY FROM ALL HIS WORKS";

Hebrews 4:9-10 (NASB) 9So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.

For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did
from His.

John 19:30 (NASB) 30Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is
finished!" And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.

Isaiah 66:22, 23 (NASB) 22"For just as the new heavens and the new earth which I make
will endure before Me," declares the LORD, "So your offspring and your name will
endure. 23"And it shall be from new moon to new moon And from Sabbath to Sabbath,
All mankind will come to bow down before Me," says the LORD.
