TRANSCEND: THE 1ST INHINYERO REVIEW CENTER QUIZ SHOW

A. WHO CAN JOIN
The competition is open to all schools, universities, and colleges with undergraduate
Civil Engineering degree programs.
Each participating universities/colleges can send at most one (1) team to this
competition comprised of three (3) bona fide undergraduate Civil Engineering
students and a bona fide Engineering faculty member serving as their coach.
B. ENTRY FORMS
For all participating universities/colleges, the fully accomplished registration forms shall
be sent to the e-mail address of PICE-HAUSC at picehau1516@gmail.com.
All of the participating schools may submit the accomplished forms starting February
20, 2016 (Saturday).
The online submission of forms will end on February 26, 2016 (Friday) until 9:00pm.
Names not included in the list cannot compete during the day of competition.
C. REGISTRATION
The registration fee for each team is PhP 400.00. Registration fees can be deposited at:

Payments can also be made during the day of the competition.

D. GENERAL MECHANICS

Participants are prohibited from bringing any form of reviewer while in the
competition is on-going. Anyone caught will be subjected to disqualification.

Each team will be accompanied by an Usher who will check the teams answer
and assist the team in case of query raised to the board of consultants of the
competition. Queries must be raised before the next question is read.

Each team will be provided with a white board, marker, eraser, solution sheets,
and team flags.

The Quiz Master will announce the next questions category and difficulty level
(Easy, Average, or Difficult) before revealing the question itself. At this point,
teams may opt to use their Dual Damage Power Up.

The Quiz Master will read each question twice, which will also be displayed onscreen and upfront. Teams may start solving while the question is being read.

The timer starts after the Quiz Master has finished the first reading of the
question. A buzzer will go off when the allotted time runs out. All trams should
stop writing and raise their white board even if the team has no answer.

Only the final answer with proper units (unless stated otherwise) must be written
on the answer board.

Final numerical answers must be rounded off to two (2) decimal places.

For uniformity, contestants must use the following constants.


Acceleration due to gravity

g = 9.81m/s2

Density of Water

= 1000 kg/m3

Unit weight of water

= 9810 N/ m3

>> DUAL DAMAGE POWER UP


Dual power is a game-changing mechanic that may increase or decrease the
team's garnered points. The teams will have the freedom to decide when to use
their dual power.
Each team will have three (3) Dual Damage Power Up throughout Early Game
Round.
Teams advancing to the next round, Clashing Round, will each have three (3)
Dual Damage Power Up for the said round. Unused dual damage powers from
Early Game Round will not be carried over.
Teams may decide to use their Dual Damage Powers by raising their Team Flag.
However, they can do so only after the Quiz Master has announced the category
and difficulty of the succeeding question before it is displayed.
Only one (1) Dual Damage Power Up may be used per question.

Only the top eight (8) teams with the highest scores after the Early Game Round will
advance to the Clashing Round. In case of a tie, a sudden death question shall be
asked and the team that correctly answers first shall be considered as the winner.

All teams competing in this round will start with 40 points regardless of scores in the
previous round.
The three (3) teams with the highest scores after the Clashing Round will be
declared as winners. In case of a tie, a sudden death question shall be asked and
the team that correctly answers first shall be considered as the winner.

>> TIC-TAC-TOE ROUNDS


The tic-tac-toe round will be an oral buzzer round.

Number of Questions: 9 (Easy, Average, and Difficult)
DETERMINATION OF WINNERS
a. The aim of this game is to be the first player to get three in a row (horizontally,
vertically or diagonally) on a 3 x 3 grid.
b. The first player to get three in a row will be declared as the champion.
c. Determination for the 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up will be based on scores
after the 9 questions.
d. If any of the players did not achieve the goal, determination of winners is
based on scores.
FLOW OF THE GAME
a. The game will have 9 questions: 3 Easy, 3 Average, and 3 Difficult.
b. The highest scorer in the previous round, Clashing Round, has the privilege to
choose the tile for the first question.
c. The questions will be read by the quiz master twice.
d. Any team can answer even if the quizmaster is not yet finished in reading the
question.
e. The team, who gets the correct answer, has the right to choose the number
for the next question. (Be reminded that the difficulty of each question are
scattered in numbers 1-9)
f. Steal is allowed only once.
g. A team must answer once or else they will be automatically in the third place
regardless of the score of those who tried to answer.
h. Plus-Minus system will be the basis for the pointing system. Negative points are
allowed.
