Description

This course recalls the prevalence of vision abnormalities related to


mTBI. It covers ocular evaluation, visual system pathways, how visual
disorders affect ImPACT, and development of a treatment and
management strategy. It will also address convergence insufficiency,
accommodative dysfunctions, and other visual dysfunctions causing
dizziness.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

Understand the prevalence and mlange of visual symptoms


as a result of concussion.

Identify the most common visual system impairments


occurring after mild traumatic brain injury.

Discuss screening and assessment techniques for identifying


visual system impairment for the physician, therapist, athletic
trainer, or allied health professional who treats concussion.

Elucidate the level of visual impairments in the classroom and


develop a treatment and management strategy.

workshop, you may reschedule to participate in another event of
equal or lesser value or substitute someone in your place, but you
cannot receive a refund. All cancellations and refund requests
must be submitted by the purchaser to lmPACT Applications, Inc.
and emailed to training@impacttest.com.

Completion Policy

Learners must view the course in its entirety to be issued a


statement of credit.

Certification, Inc. to offer continuing education for Certified Athletic
Trainers. This program has been approved for a maximum 1.50

Other Healthcare
Professions

At this time ImPACT is not able to offer continuing education


credits to occupational therapists, psychologists, registered
nurses, or other healthcare professionals. We are in the process
of applying to be able to offer credits to as many disciplines as
possible and hope to have the ability to offer credits at future
training events.

Nathan Steinhafel, MS, OD, FAAO

Doctor Nathan Steinhafel obtained his Optometry degree from the Southern
California College of Optometry and completed his residency at the University of
Alabama-Birmingham in pediatric optometry and binocular vision, where he also
served as a clinical instructor. He also holds a Masters degree in Neuro Physiology
from Brigham Young University. He specializes in the treatment of amblyopia,
strabismus, visual sequelae of traumatic brain injury, and vision therapy and
rehabilitation. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and has served
as clinical masked examiner for the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group. He is a
member of the American Optometric Association, the Academy of Optometry, and
the Neuro Optometric Rehabilitation Association. He is currently in private group
practice in Wexford Pennsylvania and affiliated with The Watson Institute and
UPMCs Sports Medicine.
