We all know that the Philippines is one of the most abundant in terms of water and land
systems which eventually little by little, harmed with the various effects that people do. So, our
government came up with an enhancement idea that will help our nature and environment to
attain treatment that will be beneficial to our environment. Avoiding and Evading pollution was a
way to stop our environment to be destroyed. They came up with different Republic Acts that
will supply the environment care for our nature, namely R.A. 9275 - Clean Water Act, R. A. 8749
- Clean Air Act and R. A. 9003 - Solid Waste Management.

R. A. 9275 or what we call Philippine Clean Water Act, aims to protect the water
resources or our country's body of water from the pollution that came from different land-based
sources like, factories, industries, commercial establishments, agriculture and household
activities. The quality of water which will be managed by the government will be based on
watershed, river basin or water resources for each region. Different scientific techniques or
approaches were to be used for the said water body for its compliance. The Department of
Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and National Water Resources Board (NWRB)
manages the said water systems. These governing boards will formulate and implement different
strategies with the coordination of the necessary policies for the Republic Act to be implemented
smoothly and effective. The Clean Water Act prohibits the harmful activities that may harm our
bodies of water. If the law was not obeyed there will be a particular fine and punishment for
those who will not comply with the rules and regulation. But sure if one does abide with the

Republic Act, I can say that we can help prevent the extinction and destruction of our water
bodies including our environment.

On the other hand, the R.A. 8749 or Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999 signifies the
comprehensive air quality management policy and program which aims to achieve and maintain
healthy air for all the Filipinos. This Act is envisioned to brawl with air pollution that is
happening in our community. It has different implications that can be applied in our community
like reducing emissions from motor vehicles, factories, and power plants. This act also helps
improve the quality we have for our fuel, which can eliminate and reduce the chemicals attained
in gasoline and sulfur in diesel. Our government implement this act wherein they want to control
and lessen the congestion of traffic and improve traffic flow. With the controlled organizing
techniques in preventing pollution towards our air, a domino-effect can be seen throughout which
eventually help our environment as well us people. They strengthen quality control, evaluate, and
several reports which can be depute in our modern technology with hi-tech equipments. The
government comply with the different aspects that can affect our environment through the air we
breathe in, with that everyone who will not follow this Republic Act could attain fines and
punishments. It is evident that factories emitting carbon dioxide, people who smokes and
vehicles running in our city could really be a great factor with air pollution. Now, for me lets
help and participate with this law and help our nature as well which can assist us also in attaining
a comfortable and safe environment and surrounding.

Lastly is the R.A.9003, Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, it is an act
providing for an ecological solid waste management program, creating necessary institutional
mechanisms and incentives, declaring certain acts prohibited and providing penalties,

appropriating funds therefore, and for other purposes. The law emphasizes solid waste avoidance
and volume reduction through source reduction and waste minimization measures, with the
protection of public health and the environment as the primary goal. Solid waste management
whose importance is directly related to public health, resource management and utilization, and
maintaining a clean environment, is necessary in ensuring human development. Solid waste
management benefits the population in many ways. The main formula in this Act is the 3Rs,
which consist of REDUCE, REUSE, and RECYCLE.

Perhaps the most important reason why we have to act now on the worsening solid waste
problem is their impact on human health. Health is a basic human right. We all deserve to live in
a cleaner environment. We all desire for a healthy family, healthy neighborhood, healthy nation.
And, the only way to satisfy these desires is to do away with garbage that breeds flies, roaches,
rodents and harmful bacteria that can spread diseases in our homes and in our communities.
