gas sector averaged circa 64,000 a year
in 20121.
Cranfield graduates are highly
employable. They develop rewarding
careers in the exciting and challenging
fields of offshore oil and gas exploration,
underwater engineering, offshore
materials, pipeline engineering, offshore
and marine risk management, and the
emerging offshore renewable energy
industry. Recent employers of Cranfield
graduates include:

BP
Fugro
Intecsea
JP Kenny
Shell

Our courses - Offshore and Ocean Technology with:

Offshore Materials
Engineering
MSc
This course develops professional
engineers with specialist knowledge of
the selection, behaviour and maintenance
of a wide variety of complex materials
used offshore. This knowledge is crucial
to the success of the industry, particularly
with the growth in novel materials for the
renewable energy sector.
Our graduates can expect to be in
demand globally as specialist structural
and materials engineers, in oil and gas,
and renewable energy applications.

Pipeline Engineering Subsea

Engineering
MSc
Subsea pipelines are key to both field
development and the transportation of oil
and gas on a global scale.
Graduates of this course are armed with the
skills required to understand the materials,
installation and maintenance issues
associated with this important infrastructure.

an MSc in Pipeline
Studying
Engineering at Cranfield allowed me
to study a niche I find interesting.
From working hard in my group
project I was recruited by the biggest
pipeline company in the world.

Kenny

Risk Management
MSc
Offshore risk managers are increasingly
in demand in the offshore industry. A riskbased approach to safety and improved
protection for the environment has been
almost universally adopted, providing
opportunities globally.

Offshore
Renewable Energy

MSc
This course is ideally suited to those with
an interest in oil and gas exploitation
in deepwater.
Our graduates are equipped with detailed
knowledge and skills in subsea hardware,
such as wellheads and separators.
They also gain advanced knowledge of
important issues such as field layout, flow
assurance, installation and maintenance.

the position they were recruiting
for. Most of it is down to having
studied here at Cranfield that I
now have the job that I have.

Lee Wills, MSc Subsea Engineering, now

Project Engineer at Large Diameter Drilling
Ltd

Our graduates take on careers in project,

system and asset risk management in the
offshore and ocean-related sectors.

MSc
Offshore renewables are booming. Many
of the issues faced by this new activity
are similar to those faced many years ago
by the offshore oil and gas industry. Our
students are able to take full advantage of
our experience in this sector.
Graduates develop valuable skills in
technology and management issues of
offshore renewable devices and a strong
background in key technologies for
offshore use.
