Dharma Modern context (Mime Script EEE-3rd year)

Team leaders: Ajith Sivadas, Nithin Vinod

Outline:
This mime depicts a short story on how the values taught to us from the
epics and culture can be used in our daily lives. Our mime presents the situation
in the life of an ideal teenager whose sense of righteousness is tested. He is in a
situation to choose between his passion and saving a mans life.
Character:
The theme of our mime revolves around a story of a teenage boy who just
finished his college. He is a brilliant student & is an IAS aspirant. He works day &
night preparing for it. He was not only a brilliant student, but also a very kind,
patriotic & had all the qualities of an IAS post. His friends & family members
whole heartedly wished & expected that he will surely crack the exam as he
would be a great benefit to our country. He even drops back & prepares another
year exclusively for the exam.
Plot:
Through all this preparations he has built up enough confidence for the
exam, but fate had different plans for him. On that fated day of his exam he
receives blessings from his family & starts from his house. On his way to the
exam centre he witnessed a severe accident where a man was injured very badly
& was left on the street alone. Our hero sees that & falls into a dilemma of
whether he has to save that man or leave him be & go write the exam. He
becomes very confused & initially drives as if nothing happened, but a few
seconds later his sense of humanity pricked him & he turned around to help the
injured man.
The effect:
Here he shows the quality of selflessness & helping tendency, as shown by
Karna in Mahabaratha. Sadly, he missed his exam. He felt that his life after that
incident had lost his meaning. He spent every day & night thinking about his lost
goal. A few weeks passed & there was no change in his attitude.
Moment of realisation
One day he sits on a park bench, still grieving about his lost opportunity.
Then suddenly, he heard someone singing behind him. It was a little girl. He saw
a person lifting the little girl and playing with her. The man was none other than
whom our hero saved. He realised the meaning of life and did not grieve his good
deed again.
Epilogue:
He started his preparation for the Civil services again and next year he
secured a top rank and became an IAS officer.
Elements of Mime:

Express the elements of Dharma while depicting the nature of the

character.
The dilemma the hero has after the accident, relates to the confusions
Arjuna had regarding the holy war in Mahabaratha.
His hard work to succeed in the exam depicts the level of dedication of
characters like Arjuna.
