The

Daisy: An Agave Gastropub Unlike Any Other In New York City

Now Open on the Upper East Side

The Daisy is an agave-themed gastropub that brings exceptional craft cocktails derived from agave
spirits and seasonal Mexican American fare to NYCs Upper East Side. Located on the Northwest
corner of 85th Street and 2nd Avenue, James OHanlon, owner of The Daisy and partner at Metropolis
Hospitality Group, built the unique concept around the margarita, which literally translates to
daisy in English. The Daisy is currently open seven days a week.

Were doing a different take on the popular New York City gastropub theme. Instead of focusing our
menu of whiskey and bourbons, typically found at an English or Irish gastropub, weve put a focus on
the agave spirits, says James OHanlon, who is also an owner of the critically acclaimed Agave
Restaurant & Tequila Bar in the West Village.

Once inside The Daisy, patrons enter the cool, sleek atmosphere of a relaxed tequila bar and
restaurant, designed by hOmE Designs. The sizable bar area seats up to 20 at the front bar and 13 at
the back bar, window stool seating overlooking 2nd Avenue and high-top tables are placed
throughout the entry way, large leather banquets are lined up on the left side of the restaurant and
as you head towards the back there is a 600 sq ft. separate bar/lounge area, which is the ideal
location for private parties but will also be used for overflow on busy nights. The Daisys design
balances an aged rustic look with refined elegant accents. Key design/dcor elements of the space
include; reclaimed wood from a church in Hells kitchen, marble tables with ages brass edging, white
cement bars, artistic textured plastered walls and ceilings, patina mirror, brass chandeliers, large
black leather banquets. As the weather heats up, outdoor seating will be available just as the Spring
Menu is introduced.

The Daisys executive chef, Raul Sanchez, also the executive chef at Agave Restaurant & Tequila Bar,
worked with OHanlon to develop an all-encompassing Mexican American themed menu, dish
highlights include;

Chorizo Costeno
Duck Mini Wellingotns
Duck Fat Truffle Fries
Octopus
Arroz Con Pato
Wild Salmon

To head up the beverage program at The Daisy, OHanlon called upon Ian Kearney, a veteran
bartender, who also currently oversees the cocktail menu at Agave Restaurant & Tequila Bar.
Cocktails at The Daisy draw inspiration from a variety of agave spirits, which have become staples of
the NYC cocktail scene. The cocktail menu at The Daisy is based around agave spirits as well as a few
non-agave surprises and but will evolve over the course of the year; Kearney plans to introduce
seasonal cocktail menus on a quarterly basis.

Kearney has also developed an extensive wine + beer menu featuring Malbec, Familia Bianchi,
Mendoze Argentina, Chardonney, Rickshaw, Sonoma, CA, Two Roads Hefeweizen, Southern Tier Old
Man Winter.
