Frank Barnes has been coaching
the men’s tennis team for almost a
decade, but this season’s quintet of
seniors has left quite the impression
on him.
“I’ve never had a group of sen-
iors as mature and distinct as these
guys,” Barnes said. “Their maturity
and leadership will be missed next
year. It will be a big blow.”
The team honored its seniors
yesterday when the Warhawks
hosted their last home meet against
Carroll University and Elmhurst
College. Kelvin Caiati, Danny Glin-
ert, Kyle Halweg, Mike Harmatys
and Ian Hintz were honored.
Caiati came to UW-Whitewater
after winning three high school Di-
vision II state doubles champi-
onships at Greendale High School.
In his final campaign, he has an
18-10 record as the No. 2 singles
player and has a 22-7 record with
Glinert at No. 1 doubles.
Glinert, who won the Division
II state singles title in 2005 from
Madison Edgewood High School,
has a 13-16 record at No. 1 singles.
He transferred to UW-White-
water after his freshman year and
said he is glad with his decision.
“I can say I am very happy with

my career,” Glinert said. “I had a lot
of fun, and I learned many lessons
that will stay with me for the rest of
my life.”
While Halweg wasn’t as highly
recruited as the other two and was-
n’t a regular starter his first three
years, he broke into the lineup this
season and has a 13-14 record at
anywhere from No. 2 to No. 6 sin-
gles.
“Halweg has worked his butt off
to become a contributor for us this
year,” Barnes said.
Harmatys, who graduated high
school in 1997 and has played only
two seasons at UW-Whitewater, is
a graduate student with a 15-5
