NETWORK FUNCTIONS
Network functions give the relation between currents or voltages
at different parts of given network.
One- Port Network:
If there is only one pair of terminals which can be used to connect
the network to any other network or for giving inputs or for taking
outputs in a given network, then it is called OnePort Network.

Two-Port Network:
If the network contains two pair of terminals (Port) which can be
used to connect the network to any other network, to give inputs
and measure outputs then, its called Two-Port Network.

Types of Network Functions:

1) Driving point functions.
2) Transfer functions.

1) Driving point functions:

If the excitation and response are measured at the same ports,
the network function is known as Driving Point Functions.
Types of Driving point functions:a) Driving point Impedance function (Z(s)).
b) Driving point admittance function (Y(s)).

a) Driving point Impedance function (Z(s)):

Definition: It is the ratio of voltage transform at one port to the
current transform at the same port.
It is denoted by Y(s).
For One-Port Network:

Z(s) =
I()
For Two-Port Network:
Z11(s) =
Z22(s) =

V 1 (s)
I 1 (s)
V 2 (s)
I 2 (s)

at Port1
at Port 2

b) Driving point Admittance function (Y(s)):

Definition: It is the ratio of current transform at one port to
voltage transform at the same port.

2) Transfer functions:
It is the ratio of response transform to an excitation transform.
It gives the relation between a voltage or current at one port to the
voltage or current at another port.
Types of Transfer functions:a) Voltage Transfer function G(s):
It is defines as the ratio of the voltage transform at one port to
the voltage transform at another port.

V 2 (s)
