    The Vancouver School Board and many other districts in British Columbia are facing large budget deficits for the upcoming year due to years of funding cuts from the provincial government. The VSB estimates its deficit to be between $16-34 million. This deficit comes as the government has refused to cover increasing costs it has downloaded to schools, such as teacher salary increases and new taxes. Unless more funding is provided, there will be layoffs and cuts to school programs and supports. Citizens are urged to contact their MLAs before the BC budget on March 2nd to avert unprecedented cuts to public schools. A select committee has also recommended the government fully fund schools to cover costs like all-day kindergarten.

    Education Funding Crisis Take Action


    The VSB (along with many districts in BC) is Write your MLA!
