Goal:
 Your task as an Educator is to utilize the technological tools according to ISTE
NETS*T standards Area Two to develop a multimedia curriculum based upon
your unit of choice.
 Your goal is to include the most current and newest technological tools to develop
and design your multimedia curriculum.
 Your challenge is to discover how to incorporate multimedia into your class unit
for the enhancement of your students’ learning.
 You must overcome the obstacle of assuming that technology and multimedia can
not be incorporated into your class unit or class curriculum.

Role:
 You are a 21st century educator who is responsible for the re-enforcement of the
technology literacy skills of today’s 21st century student.
 You have been given the assignment to develop and implement a multimedia unit
that meets the ISTE NETS*T standards Area Two for teachers.
 Your main role as a 21st century educator is to provide students with
opportunities to interact with technology through a multimedia classroom unit
and curriculum.

Audience:
 Your target audience will be students in grades Pre K – 12 and adult students in
collegiate and vocational levels of learning.
Situation:
 Your challenge involves creating a unit that incorporates multimedia tools based
on the guidelines of ISTE NETS*T standards Area Two for teachers.

Product, Performance, and Purpose:


 You will design and develop a class unit experience that includes various
multimedia tools and resources in order to encourage student interaction and
learning.
 You need to develop a unit that includes a blend of multimedia applications and
technology resources so that your students will be encourage to participate in
creating their own goals, oversee their own learning, and evaluate their own
learning progress.
Standards and Criteria for Success
 Your performance needs to reflect the guidelines and the standards of the ISTE
NETS*T Standards Area Two for teachers.
 Your unit will be assessed through a short presentation of your unit during the
Staff Development Workshop.

Skills test will consist of developing a multimedia presentation for one of their classroom
units.

Student Self-Assessment and Reflection

1. Educators will self assess their own multimedia presentation before presenting it
before their peers at the staff development workshop.

2. Educators will write a one page reflection paper that reflects their individual overall
personal experience about the staff development workshop.

Six Facet Rubric

Facet 1: Explanation
 Educators will develop and design a unit based upon the ISTE NETS*T
Standards Area Two.
 Educators will explain their choice in multimedia application and technological
resources to develop an interactive and show their work in the form of a
multimedia presentation at the conclusion of the workshop.

Facet 2: Interpretation
 Educators will select their choice multimedia application and technology resource
to create a multimedia presentation for their unit.
 Educators will answer the following questions in the format of a reflection paper:
- How effective would this presentation be in your classroom setting?
-What aspects of the multimedia design process did you enjoy? Why?
-What aspects did you not like of the multimedia design process? Why?
-Describe your overall experience in creating your multimedia presentation for
the unit.
-Do you feel that creating interactive multimedia activities will encourage your
students to participate in their learning process?
Facet 3: Application
 Choose a topic for your unit.
 Choose which computer applications and resources you will use to compile your
multimedia presentation. Example choices: Apple iWorks, Microsoft Office,
Windows Movie Maker, Adobe Design Suite; in addition, Digital Images, Audio
files, Animated GIFS or Movies.

 As an educator, ask yourself, what are the pros and cons of incorporating
multimedia applications and technological resources into a classroom setting and
environment?

Facet 5: Empathy
 Educators need to visualize themselves in the shoes of their students, so they can
imagine how their students will interact or respond to a multimedia enhanced
lesson or unit.
