In Sandra Cisneros's "Barbie-Q", a sudden abundance of flaw ed Barbie dolls makes the child
narrator accepts her ow n identity and discards society's ideals of w omen.
The initial storyw orld is that of materialism and perfection. What the narrator values in
her dolls and w hat she plays w ith them could be seen as a reflection of her ow n self image, of w hat
she thinks she should look like and w hat kind of life she should live. From the first few lines of the story
