Ragnarok Online Blacksmith Complete Guide by Waukeen

Introduction
The fire of the forge beckons to you. You feel the heat of the flames caress your skin. It crawls
through your entire body, entering the pores of your skin. That very flame enters your nerves, boiling
your blood. It moves through your insides, crushing every wall of resistance. It soars through your
bloodlines calling out for the center of your being. The fires wrap around your pounding heart, and it
is there that the ultimate forge is found. The fires of the forge embrace your very soul, calling you to
a life of sacrifice and glory. It is here that your hammer forges your destiny. Welcome to the world of
the blacksmith, the world of your soul.
This guide was made to show you the different paths of the blacksmith. There are many roads and
some are more traveled than the others. But what ultimately makes your blacksmith unique is
yourself. This is but a guide, to show you alternatives and choices made by blacksmiths in the past.
In this guide you will see the mistakes and triumphs of several pioneers. But their time is over. Their
names have now faded in the ancient scrolls of history. It is your time to take up the hammer.
The roads are now open. Which will you take? To the right side is the path of the Battlesmith. His
steel does not forge weapons, but rends the skin and crushes bone. To the left is the path of the
Pure Forger. He will never take up arms to fight, but his weapons will be etched forever in the lore of
historians as their blades will be the finest and deadliest of them all. In the middle is the road of the
BattleForger. He carries with him both his anvil and his hammer. He forges the very weapons which
he will use to smite his opponents down.
These three roads are just the beginning. Along your journey you will find many twists and turns.
There will be other paths that will be open. From there on, it will be your choices that will matter the
most. The greatest blacksmith said it best, The ultimate weapon forged by a blacksmith is his life.
Attributes (Stats)
Strength
Strength is one of the defining features of the Blacksmith. A Blacksmith will never match the evasive
maneuvers of an Assassin. Nor will he reach the resilience of a Spear Knight. But the Blacksmith is
the most devastating melee force to roam Midgard. The skills you learn are a testament to this
assertion. Weapon Research gives you a bonus of 10% more damage and Power Thrust gives you
an additional 25% more. In all my years walking the lands of Midgard, I have still to see another
person match the power of the Blacksmith in melee combat.
Strength bonuses come in 10s (+1/+4/+5/+8/+10/+12/+13/+15/+17/+19). It is highly advisable that
you increase your Strength as much as you can. Try to aim for at least 100 Strength. The most
devastating of course would be 110. Legends say that some Blacksmiths can reach 120 or even 130
Strength. Strength is simply a must for Battlesmiths and BattleForgers.
Agility
Agility is the measure of a person?s quickness and reflexes in battle. This is one of the most
underrated attribute for the Blacksmith. Each time you increase Agility, you increase your ability to

flee or to dodge enemy attacks (please refer to the attached Flee Chart later on). As stated earlier, it
is not advisable to max out Agility. Simply because you will never reach the dodging capabilities of
the Assassin. It also helps you attack faster. The faster you attack, the faster the opponent dies.
Intelligence
This one is left for the Priests and Wizards of Midgard. Blacksmiths do not spend their days reading
old scriptures of the arcane and mystic arts. Our true powers come from striking steel and flesh with
our hammers.
Dexterity
Dexterity is the hand-eye coordination and muscle control of the Blacksmith. This helps in two ways.
First would be in the forging of weapons. Crafting the very best blades require unparallel skill and
discipline. Dexterity also helps in combat, because your attacks are more precise. This is the primary
attribute of Pure Forgers
Dexterity gives a bonus of .1% in forging. Every point of Dexterity also raises your Hit, which
determines if you can land a blow against a very agile and evasive opponent. It also gives bonuses
to your minimum and maximum damage every 10 points (+3/+4/+5/+6/+8/+10/+12/+13/+14).
Vitality
This is the measure of a Blacksmith?s constitution and health. Vitality is usually attributed to the
steel clad Knights of Midgard. But given the right steel, the blacksmith is almost at par with the
defensive capabilities of the Knight.
Every point of Vitality increases your defense by 1 (means 1 less damage is subtracted from the
opponent?s attack). It also increases your total Life and recovery/regen time.
Luck
This is the measure of a persons favor with the goddess of fortune. Luck can literally save your life,
because it can mean your opponent missing you at certain situations. It can also mean that one or
two of your blows connect at the perfect and most critical time. Even more, Luck can be attributed to
several successful forging attempts later on in your career. This is the secondary attribute of the
Pure Forger.
You get 1% Critical per 3 points of luck. You also get .05% chance bonus in forging. This also helps
lucky dodge.
Merchant Skills
Before you hold the right to wear the white shirt of the smith, you must first earn this honor by living
the life of the Merchant. The following are the skills that you will be able to select from. These skills
will carry-over to your Blacksmith, so be sure to plan them well. (You can only have a maximum of
50)

Enlarge Weight Limit: This gives merchants extra strength to be able to carry more equipment in
their travels. They need this since they carry a lot of their wares at the beginning of their young
careers. It is advisable to just get the pre-requisite for the Pushcart, which is Level 5.
Pushcart: A merchant cannot burden his back forever with all his wares. Thus, he brings with him a
cart that carries most of the items he will be selling. Increasing this skill increases the movement
speed while equipping a cart. This is a essential for merchants and smiths. This opens up the
vending skill. It is advisable to get this to at least level 8. Anything lower than that is punishment
because of the extremely slow movement rate.
Discount: One of the defining skills of the merchant, this skill allows him to haggle with the NPC
sellers of various items. Increased levels mean less capital to pay for more goods to sell or
consume. Though most people will recommend you to get level 10 Discount, it is actually more
advisable to get it only up to 9. The 1% difference is not that big. But definitely get it up to at least 9,
since you will be making your money by using this skill.
Overcharge: The opposite of Discount. The merchant can overprice the items he picks up from his
travels and sell it to the NPCs. Truly a great skill to have, especially if you are a Battlesmith or
Battleforger who always comes home with various trophies from your recent battle or skirmish. As
stated earlier, this is another essential skill. Along your travels you will pick up several items which
you can sell to other merchants. This skill allows you to sell those loot for a greater price. Like
Discount, this can be level 10, but I suggest you keep it to 9.
Vending: A merchant without a store is not a merchant. Vending enables you to open shop and let
customers buy your wares. Unless you are a Pure Forger, it is advisable to get only 1 or 2 levels of
Vending.
Item Appraisal: Normal people will need to buy Magnifiers to be able to identify several special items
they chance upon in their journey. A merchant, on the other hand, has a trained eye that can
automatically make him determine what that object is. This is personal preference. If you want to
bring magnifiers, than do not bother getting this skill.
Mammonite: The supreme sacrifice, yet the most glorious attack in the field of battle. The merchant
offers zenny to the gods of Midgard, greatly enhancing his next attack. This is one of the most feared
melee skills in the entire land. This skill opens several paths for the blacksmith. With Mammonite, he
is a terrible opponent in the arena. He can literally take down people with one or two attacks. This
skill is even feared by the leaders of the monsters of Midgard.
Blacksmith Skills
After reaching at least Job 40, a merchant has earned the right to become the Blacksmith. The
following are the skills of the Blacksmith.
Hammerfall: The wind roars in defiance as the earth rumbles. The Blacksmith slams his hammer on
the ground, sending shockwaves throughout his area. This does not cause any damage, but it has a
chance of stunning the opponents in the area. This skill is very useful in the field of battle. If you are
being mobbed and you need to deal with your opponents one by one, just use this skill to stun most

of them and fight the active ones. This also works against opponents with high flee. Since you
cannot hit them directly, stun them first then dish out the punishment. If you are going for a PvP/WoE
build, it is highly advisable you max this skill, seeing as this will be spammed more times than
Mammonite.
Adrenaline Rush: The blood of the smith boils with adrenaline as his battle instincts heighten to
godly levels. This skill primarily increases the attack speed of the smith. This skill increases the
attack speed of the Blacksmith by 50%. This only applies to axe and mace type weapons. Party
members can also benefit from this skill. This is one of the most powerful abilities of the Blacksmith,
be sure to get it to at least level 3 if you plan on being a Battle type.
Power Trust: This skill goes hand in hand with Adrenaline Rush, making battlesmiths unstoppable in
the field of battle. Power Thrust gives a 25% bonus to the damage dealt by the smith. If you are a
battle type, it is highly recommended that you max this skill.
Hilt binding: Useless for now, but get it so that you will have Weapon Research.
Weapon Research: All smiths, regardless of type, will get this skill. It gives +10% forging success,
+20 attack, and +20 hit. Regardless if Pure Forger or Battle, it is highly advisable that you max this
skill. Also gives 10% bonus to overupgrading ^^
Ore Discovery: This is one of the weirdest skills in the Blacksmith?s skill list. At first it sounds like
that you will be able to gather more ores from ore-dropping monsters. But people say it just gives
random drops. This was useful pre-Comodo, because Eluniums and Oridecons were hard to come
by. Since the improved drop rate patch, this skill became useless.
Weapon Forging: There are several weapons you can forge: Daggers, 1 Handed Swords, 2 Handed
Swords, Maces, Knuckles, Axes, and Spear Forging. The mix of what you take is up to you.
Oridecon Research: I have no idea what this skill does. In some sites, they say it gives 50% more
forging chance. Other sites also say it is practically useless. Whatever the case is, I highly suggest
you max this before forging level 3 Weapons. Customers will always ask if you have this when they
ask about level 3 weapons. At least you can calmly say you have it. I also noticed a higher forge rate
for myself when I was able to max this skill.
Refining: Aside from making weapons, Blacksmiths can also temper and refine rough ores (except
for Elunium and Oridecon). There are 3 types of refining: Stone, Iron, and Steel.
Skin Tempering: The heat of the forge enables the smith to resist fire attacks of opponents. Id
probably get this only if I was going Full-Battle.
Repair Weapon: When weapon breaking is implemented, this skill will be a must. Weapons breaking
at the middle of adventures would be a terrible setback.

Weapon Perfection: Weapons deal different damage depending on the size of the opponent.
Weapon Perfection eliminates the disadvantages of battling enemies that give you damage penalties
because of the size.
Maximize Power: This skill enables a blacksmith to deal his maximum damage always until he
exhausts his SP. The problem with this skill is that SP regeneration is turned off during the duration
of the skill.
Pure Forger
The classic and stereotypical build of the blacksmith is that of the Pure Forger. A Pure Forger will
excel in one thing and one thing only. His capability to forge weapons. He does not have any battle
skills, and will rely on his finely crafted weapons to make a name for himself in the land of Midgard.
The Pure Forger is the most business minded of them all, since he will be spending most of his
active time trading, selling, and buying wares. For leveling, the Pure Forger relies on his friends,
guildmates, or mercenaries.
Pure Forger Build
What is the ideal build for the Pure Forger?
Forging is theoretically linked to the following factors:
1.) Blacksmith Job Level
2.) Luck Attribute
3.) Dexterity Attribute
4.) Weapon Skill (Levels 1 ? 3)
5.) Weapon Research Skill (Levels 1-10)
6.) Anvil (Iron, Oridecon, Gold, and Emperium)
Hypothetically, the best Pure Forger build would be something that would maximize everything that
is listed above. So for attributes, a Pure Forger should get his base Dexterity and Luck score to 99,
and forget about the other stats. Majority of the forging calculators say that Dexterity gives twice as
much as Luck, so it is advisable that you pump Dexterity first and let Luck low until later.
For merchant skills, a Pure Forger should no longer bother with getting the battle skills. Since he will
not lift a weapon against any opponent, he can sacrifice Mammonite and even maximum Push Cart.
The Pure Forger should focus on the following skills:
1.) Discount (10)
2.) Overcharge (10)
3.) Push Cart (5)
4.) Enlarge Weight Limit (5)
5.) Vending (10)
He can interchange skill points with Vending and Push Cart, depending on personal preference.
There is also no need to get the Comodo merchant skills except maybe for the Cart Change skill
later on.

When the merchant becomes a blacksmith, he can ignore all the battle skills once again. The Pure
Forger should focus on getting all the forging and refining skills possible.
1.) Hilt Binding (1)
2.) Weapon Research (10)
3.) Repair Weapon (1)
4.) Forging Skills (All at level 3)
5.) Refining Skills (All at Level 5)
6.) Oridecon Research (5)
The Pure Forger reaches his best at level 99, when he is able to max the two primary forging stats
(Dexterity and Luck). Most Pure Forgers stop at 81, since they will gain access to the Panda Cart
and maximize their Job Level.
How to Level a Pure Forger
How does one level up a character that has no battle skills whatsoever? There are two methods in
which to do this.
The first one is the easiest, which is to simply leech. Leeching means you sit down in a safe place
and party up with a fast killing job character. The experience is then set at Even Share, which gives
you XP even though you are not killing anything. There are many ways to do this. First would be
relying on your friends and guildmates. You can promise them elemental weapons later on when you
find yourself capable of forging powerful weapons. Another way is by hiring mercenaries who will do
the work for you. A Pure Forger can pay his way to reach the top.
The second method is by Self-Leeching. You need two separate accounts. Instead of relying on
another person to level your character, you activate both accounts (one Pure Forger Smith and your
leveling character), and do the work yourself with Even Share activated.
Pure Forger Analysis
The Pure Forger is one of the most coveted classes at the middle of the game. Remember that the
longer the time duration is in one server, the more elemental weapons are circulating. There are also
more blacksmiths sprouting everywhere, which basically spells competition for you. If you plan on
making a blacksmith in old servers (Chaos, Loki, and Iris), be prepared to actually not earn anything.
As of today, forging is already dead, and most blacksmiths in all three servers are battle types. If you
are making blacksmiths in the relatively new servers (Fenrir, Odin, Sarah, and Lydia), then go
ahead. If you succeed in making a good name for yourself, it is highly possible that you become one
of the richest people in your server.
The problem with being a Pure Forger is you miss out on everything the Blacksmith job is offering.
You limit yourself to one facet, which is forging. This guide will later tackle the other two types of
blacksmiths, which will show how powerful and diverse a blacksmith can actually be.

Battlesmith and Battleforger

The Battlesmith is the most popular build right now, and is the complete opposite of the Pure Forger.
It is also one of the most feared and respected classes in the field of battle. As it stands today, there
is no other class that will match the destructive melee capabilities of the Battlesmith (until Juno
comes anyway). Both in PvP and MvP, the Battlesmith is a force to reckon with, and only a few jobs
can stand up to it in a battle to the death.
The Battleforger is similar to the Battlesmith. The only difference is the Blacksmith job skills that the
Battleforger will take (will discuss later on). The guide on Battlesmith Build also applies to that of the
Battleforger (only on job skills will it differ).
Battlesmith Build
Unlike the Pure Forger, which has a linear build, the Battlesmith can adapt different philosophies in
regard to their stat build. First analyze your goals and playing reasons, after that, plan and make the
appropriate build. What are the various goals?
1.) Player versus Player
2.) War of Emperium Tank Support
3.) War of Emperium Support/Tactical Killer
4.) Monster versus Player (Fast Leveling)
5.) Most Valuable Player (Against Bosses)
Now that we have listed the specific goals of the Battlesmith, we can now delve into builds that will
be able to satisfy the needs of those goals listed above. But before we go to the actual builds, let us
first look at one factor that all Battlesmiths must take into consideration, and that is the Strength
attribute.
No other job in Midgard can fully exploit the bonuses of the Strength attribute. The Blacksmith?s
battle skills all have one stat to boost, and that is Strength. Power Thrust/Weapon Research gives
percentage bonuses, while Crazy Uproar in itself is a direct bonus to Strength. If you still don?t see
the point, take a stroll around Midgard and look at the Battlesmiths it training. The damage they deal
will always be hellishly high. As one of my favorite smiths in iRO said, Strength is to Blacksmiths as
Agility is to Assassins. All the builds I will be proposing will rely on a minimum of 100 Strength (with
bonuses).
Butcher Build (MvP, MVP, Tactical Killer, Emperium Breaker)
Popularized by: Riffy, from iRO
The Butcher Build is one of the most devastating things you will be able to see in Midgard. This build
relies on two things for offense, which are: Strength and Agility. Strength for the brute damage, and
Agility for the Attack Speed bonus (thus the Butcher). This build is highly encouraged for people who
want to level fast, since it relies on Flee for defense (which is ignorable in PvP/WoE). This build can
also be one of the most powerful forces in MvP, since there will be no other job in the field that will

be able to match your damage as you spam the Mammonite skill (Mammonite attack speed is equal
to your normal attack speed).
The build basically requires: Strength (110), Agility (80), Dexterity (50), Vit (40), and the rest in Luck.
(with bonuses)
For the offensive weapon, the Butcher uses Two-Handed axes. Axes have better damage and attack
speed, which is compensated with the lost of the buckler. Since the build relies on Flee for defense,
then it should ideally take minimal if not no hits from the opponent.
The Luck is for critical attacks. Next to Battle Priests with asperio, the Battlesmith is one of the best
jobs for crits. Since the build relies heavily on attack speed, critical chances will highly improve. More
attacks per second = more chances to crit.
For WoE, this build can be used to instantly take out an opponent, since the high damage (high
strength), coupled with the high attack speed (high agility) will be one of the most destructive forces
in this game. You can also be an Emperium Breaker, simply switch to a fire swordmace/fire 2h axe,
and whip out Clips of Counter (Crits mean a lot, the emp has uber high defense O_o;)
The Tank Smith (Tank Support)
Popularized by: SLUGGER, pRO
The Tank or Vit Smith is a rather hard nut to crack. Imagine a fully upgraded Vit Knight? with 500
White Potions. This build has 1 primary Stat, and that?s not even Strength. It?s definitely Vitality.
The goal of this smith is not to be the one to take out the opponents. He is the one who gets
attention, attracting attacks toward him. Instead of spamming Mammonite, he will be letting lose
Hammerfalls to do area-stun effects.
This build is not advisable for MVP situations. The attack speed of your Mammonite will be rather
slow, allowing the Hunters to DS their way to MVPhood. You also won?t be that much of a threat to
the opponent?s emperium in WoE, since you can?t beat the heal/time ratio against a level 3
Sanctuary. But one thing is for sure. You will be the very last to fall.
In terms of stat, there are two variants. The first one would be SLUGGER?s build, which is mainly
Vitality. If I am not mistaken, he went for 99 Vitality and around 70-80 Strength. He put the rest in
Dexterity and Luck. That build is mainly for tanking. The mammonite can still kill, but it won?t be as
effective as the butcher.
The second variant is a bit similar to the Butcher build. Instead of 80 Agility and 40 Vitality, switch
the two numbers. Have 40 Agility and 80 Vitality. Remember to retain 110 Strength. This is will be
better because it gives you more diversity in your smith. You will be able to attack faster, and even
cause some of your opponents to miss you from time to time. (Leveling will also be easier)
For WoE, this build is great for offense and defense. If you rush in the opponents agit, be sure to
pack an unfrozen armor. If the opponent?s SG cant freeze you, you will be literally unstoppable. The

damage you take will be minimal, due to your high defense and Vitality. The HP gained per White
Potion you drink will also be insanely high, since you maxed your Vitality. If the opponent makes the
mistake of focus firing on you, then you did your part. The rest of your guild can rush in and take
care of the rest.
For defense, just stay at the spawn portal and spam hammerfall when the opponent?s come in.
Mammonite the stunned Hunter/Wizard once in a while, since they will probably die in a couple of
hits anyway.
Path of the Hybrid (Emperium Breaker, MvP, Tactical Killer, PvP, MVP)
Popularized by: Waukeen, pRO
Ok this is a bit personal, since this basically explains my build. I cannot credit some early smith for
this build, since everything I have right now came from experience in playing. I had no FAQs or
guides to help me make this. I added points when I felt I needed it. There were many times when I
thought my build sucked, and I even made 4 smiths after Waukeen trying to see if other builds were
better. At the end of the day I went back to this one, because it finally struck me that Hybrids are a
force to reckon with. This will probably be the longest chapter in this guide. ^.^;
What is a blacksmith in Ragnarok Online? Let?s take all his good points. A blacksmith can vend and
forge. He is also one of the best melee classes since he has adequate Hit Points and can wear
armor that is second best only to Knights. He deals the most amount of damage (Melee), because of
percentage uppers found in Weapon Research and Power Thrust. His critical attacks are also a
thing of beauty, especially if you are using an axe (1k++ crit on Minorous ^^). The Hybrid is all that
and more.
Before I go explaining on what it can do, I actually have to show you the stats first ^.^;; This one is a
bit hard to explain without the numbers. For the Hybrid, you can go: 100 Str, 60 Vit, 60 Agi, 50 Dex,
and 30 Luck (with bonuses).
Strength is still the primary stat of all Smiths. We can?t reach 110 with this one though, but 90-100
will be good enough to be able to use quad carded axes/maces. The 60 Vitality is there to keep Stun
in check. It also helps in Potion-HP ratio recovery, as well as the maximum Hit Points you will be
able to have. Don?t forget the 1-1 defense bonus of Vitality as well. 60 Agility is there to help you
level. You will be able to dodge key opponents with just 60 Agility. At around level 75sh, you can
probably take on Minorous. The 50 Dexterity and 30 Luck are there for forging and so that you will
be able to hit stuff. The 30 Luck also provides your smith with the option of going Critical.
Overall the Hybrid is everything you will be able to find in a Blacksmith. He will forge and whoop ***
at the same time. He may not be a good tanker as the Tank Smith, but you will be able to make up
the less Vit with more Potions. At the same time you are not limited to purely defense, as a Hybrid
has the capabilities and skills of a Butcher Smith.

In MVP, if there is no Butcher Smith in sight, the MVP is almost 100% yours, especially if you find
the boss first. You have a little less than the Butcher?s attack speed and damage, thus giving the
Butcher an edge. But you will still be able to stand get the MVP from other jobs.
For WoE, what can a Hybrid do? He can and will do everything. If a Hybrid Smith were to reach the
Emperium of the opponent, consider it a lost cause. 500 White pots will keep him alive till the last
second. A hybrid smith can also switch to critical mode, which will help him break the Emperium
easily Fire Swordmace + High Strength + High Attack Speed + 20 Crit = Dead Emperium). If we are
to talk about defense, he can do what the Vit Smith can do, which is to spam Hammerfall. He also
gains more use as he can kill much faster than the Tank Smith. In short, the Hybrid can be both a
Tank Support and a Tactical Killer.
Leveling with a Hybrid is a pain at the start, especially if you make the mistake of Hybriding early. I
say you go for 60 Strength first, then go 60 Agility, follow it up with 20-40 Vit, then maximize Strength
before going back to Vitality. That will be a little easier.
Battlesmith and Battlforger Skills
A Battlesmith eventually becomes a Battleforger at the latter part of his career. Even if you maximize
all the combat skills, you will still have points extra for forging. What?s important is you maximize:
Adrenaline Rush, Power Thrust, and Weapon Research. Weapon perfection at only level 3 will be
sufficient, as well as Maximize Power 1. The rest of the points you can put in forging/refining skills
Blacksmith Equipment Guide
The downside of a Blacksmith is you need multiple weapons and expensive armors to be able to
make it big (almost as expensive as a Dual Dagger Assassin). Your main feature is versatility, thus
you will be spending a lot to get the items you need for different situations.
I will not go over all the items you need in your entire blacksmith career, but I will be posting the
Blacksmith Checklist.
Offensive Gear:
Triple Bloody Chain Orc Dungeon 2, Sphinx 3, PvP, WoE.
Triple Boned Chain Orc Dungeon 2, Sphinz 3, GH
Triple Envenemous Chain Agriope Map
Triple Ancient Chain GH Castle, PvP, WoE, Baphomet, Mistress, Stormy Knight
Triple Beholder Chain CT3, Sandmen Map
Ice Swordmace/2H Axe Minorous Maps, High Orc Maps, Eddga
Fire Swordmace/2H Axe Undead Maps, Orc Archer Maps, Orc Lord, Orc Hero, Maya, Osiris,
Pheeroni
Wind Swordmace/2H Axe Bylan
Earth Swordmace/2H Axe Punks, Stem Worms
The eternal question now arises, which is better, the Axe or the Mace?

For leveling and MVPing, I strongly recommend you use 2 Hand Axes. Axes deal more damage
because they are stronger and they can be used faster compared to Maces. Though you might have
to sacrifice more zenny for potions, since you will be dropping your buckler. For WoE and PvP
conditions it is always better to be using a mace/buckler combo, because a Cranial Buckler will keep
you alive from double strafes.
Defensive/Misc. Gear:
Cranial Buckler Orc Dungeon, Sphinx, Chivalry, Castle, PvP, WoE, Orc Lord, Orc Hero
Gargantuan Buckler Agriope Map, Sidewinder Map, Mistress
Brutal Buckler Hode, Minorous Maps, Turtle Island, Alligator/Wild Rose Map, Turtle General,
Pheeroni, Maya (Double Check please if she?s actually an insect >_<)
Hell Buckler GH, Sohee Map, Baphomet
Heavy Buckler Penomena Map
Ring of Counters I prefer occasional Crits, but you can switch this to Rings of Muscle or Clips of
Muscle.
Magestic Goat/Gemmed Sallet/Grand Circlet ? Any Helm that gives you additional Strength. I prefer
an overupgraded slotted Gemmed Sallet or Cap. It?s much cheap then overupgrading an MG. +6
Adurate Cap > +4 Magestic Goat.
Immune Manteau If you are going Tank Smith then go ahead and go for it.
Mocking Manteau If you are a Butcher, then go for it.
Mocking Manteau for Hybrids
Here is another point for debate. What should a Hybrid wear? Mocking or Immune? Personally, I go
for the Mocking Manteau. Since you have sufficient Agility for decent flee, then might as well use the
Mocking to bolster it. Here?s a good point to think about. When another Smith Mammonites you and
deals 1000 damage, with the reydric, it will be a hundred less. What if he misses? Then you saved
yourself 1000 points of pain.
Boots of Hermes over Green Boots
Why the hell do you want Green Boots? Its not as if youre actually going to die if you have the
potions. I would rather have +1 more Agility to help attack speed and flee because you never really
reach Red Life in the first place. In the event that you do, youll be spamming White Potions.
Note: Be sure to overupgrade your equipment, especially the triple slotted chains and all your
armors. Try to get all your armors to at least +6, and your chains to +8.
Blacksmith Leveling Guide
Leveling was best explained by Riffy in his guide, which was posted in www.ro-world.com. Sad to say
that site closed down the Ragnarok section, so I?m not sure if its still available for viewing. I will try
to summarize what he said as best as I can.

Leveling is not only attributed to XP/Minute. There are other factors, which you can include, such as
the Drops, the Cost, and most especially, the Fun Factor. You have to balance everything out,
because if you dont, you might end up quitting out of boredom or frustration.
The best example would be the Zen Orc or Kobold decision. Leveling at the Zen Orcs is way faster
and less cost. But the only rare thing you?ll get is an orc helm from the Orc Skeleton. If you were to
go to the Cobold map, you might chance upon a Cobold Card or several slotted bucklers. You can
instantly sell these items to get more equips for your smith.
For the basics, here is what I recommend:
Level 13-20: Rockers
Level 21 30: Peco Peco/Boa
Level 31 40: Elder Willows
Level 40 53: Bylan 2-3
Level 53 60: Bylan 3-4
Level 60 75: Zen Orc/Cobold
Level 75 80: Sphinx 3
Level 80 99: Sphinx 4, Pyramids B2, CT 4 (High Orcs)
Leveling for a Blacksmith is also equipment oriented. Be sure to buy the appropriate equipment
before going into the said area. If you?re going Orc Dungeon, be sure to pack a Triple Bloody Chain
and a Cranial. Or if you?re going to Pyramids B2, bring an Ice Swordmace/Ice 2H Axe and a Brutal
Buckler.
Blacksmith MVP Guide
A Blacksmith can also one of the best jobs for MVPing. But you have to select your targets carefully.
I will only list a few of my favorite MVP targets here, as well as a short explanation on how to go
about killing the monster.
Locating MVPs
The first and most important thing in MVPing is being able to get to the MVP first. Its important that
you pack a lot of fly wings and it will also be helpful if you get a Bloody Axe (Agi Up forever as long
as you hold it).
EDDGA
Eddga is actually one of the easiest bosses around. You wont need more than 50 Whites to take
this guy down. Be sure to first use a Fire Swordmace and Cart Revolution to clear out his initial mob.
After that, switch to an Ice Swordmace/Ice Two Handed Axe and start spamming Mammonite and
the pots. Try to get a hold of Aqua (Swordfish) Armor, so as to reduce the damage taken from the
Firebolt, which Eddga favors using. This guy is one of the best things to MVP. As Juicy (iRO) said in
his guide for MVPs, Eddga rocks because the footskin (which sells for 3-4M) is both an MVP and a
ground drop.

ORC LORD
Orc Lord has always been my favorite. He is the most smith-friendly of all MVPs. Also, he is the
easiest MVP to find. Just follow the trail of dead bodies in Orc Dungeon 2. Or stand near the back
entrance and wait for several MVP parties to start hanging around (Clue: When level 99s come in,
Orc Lord is about to come out). There isnt any art in killing him though. Just take out your Fire
Swordmace/2H axe and Cranial Buckler. Then start spamming Mammonite as if there was no
tomorrow. If you are soloing, be wary of the Orc Archers that he summons. If you are with a party or
several people are also killing him, pay no attention, since most of them will kill the archers for you.
Orc Lord takes a while to kill, so be ready to pull out White Potions from your Cart. You may want to
wear Aqua Armor, so as to take less damage from the spells he casts. He drops good rares too
(Bloody Axe, Grand Circlet).
ORC HERO
Another one of my favorites, just follow the tactics from Orc Lord. If you find him with a mob, Cart
Revo the High Orcs away first with an Ice Swordmace before switching to Fire for the actual Hero.
After that, just Mammonite away and heal. Remember to wear Dokkebi armor if you can?t handle
the wind spells he casts. The only problem with Orc Hero is his drops suck. >_<; Light Epsilon is the
best you will be able to get out of him.
BAPHOMET
Hahaha.. yep its possible. Ive done it numerous times already. You need to have a priest though to
do this one effectively. First get a triple Ancient chain. Bapohmet has insane flee. Then wear your
Buckler from Hell and get a Dokkebi Armor as well (LoV hurts). Ask the priest to buff you up and
asperio you. Spam mammonite as well as potions. You will beat ME Priests and Hunters to MVP
because you are dealing the most damage and you are tanking Bapho as well. His drops are good,
including the MG, which is popular for overupgrading these days. (-Death- from Steel Wolves has a
+9 MG)
I wont bother explaining the other MVPs. It gets rather repetitive. The routine is to simply clear the
mob with Cart Revolution then Mammonite away while spamming Potions.
