CREATE AN APPLICANT ACCOUNT

2. Locate the Zoo Superintendent job posting and click on Apply. If this is your first application with the City of Idaho
Falls, you will need to set up an account username and password. Be sure to save your username and password.

The Idaho Falls Zoo at Tautphaus Park is staffed by a dedicated, hard-working team of animal enthusiasts of 11 full-time
and 14 part-time employees as well as almost 100 volunteers. The zoo is responsible for maintaining and expanding our
accredited facilities, managing and creating events that involve the local community, facilitating excellent educational
opportunities, and supporting conservation efforts locally and worldwide.
We are looking for a business-minded, passionate, energetic, and visionary leader to fulfill the role of Zoo Superintendent
who has experience working with zoos and can lead our efforts in expansion. We are looking for an individual capable of
generating innovative ideas, establishing a plan of action, and leading a team to accomplishing goals.
The Idaho Falls Zoo at Tautphaus Park is a community landmark that is well-loved by the citizens of Idaho Falls.
We are seeking a qualified individual who can lead our zoo to the next level of success. Become a part of our

Our ideal candidate will have the ability to plan and organize improvements of city owned zoo related to
expansion, construction, collection management; ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing;
ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisors, federal, state and local agency personnel,
fellow workers, community interest groups and the public.
Responsibilities
Oversees, develops, and monitors zoo departmental budget and submits for final
approval to the Division Director.
Develops plans and goals for media outreach, community involvement, and public
awareness development.
Manages all Zoo activities in a manner consistent with accreditation standards of
the American Zoo and Aquarium Association; manages all zoo activities in a manner
consistent with all laws and regulations regarding captive wildlife.
Serves on various boards and committees related to projects and programs involving
the zoo as needed.
