ALBERTANS SPLIT ON HOW PROVINCE HELPS KIDS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

TBD, 2016 (Ottawa, ON) A new Mainstreet/Postmedia poll conducted nds many Albertans do not believe
the government is doing enough for kids with special needs. Nearly 1 of every 100 Alberta kids under the
age of 19 is classied as having some type of special need. The Mainstreet/Postmedia Poll has a margin of
error of +/- 1.96%, 19 times out of 20.
"A large percentage of Albertans are not sure about how adequately the province meets the various needs
of kids with special needs. It's likely that people who are unfamiliar with the supports for kids with special
needs, are less likely to have any opinion," said Quito Maggi, President of Mainstreet Research.
"Among those who have formed an opinion, reaction is mixed with 16% saying they think the province is
doing enough for education, 34% on recreational services, 17% on access to post-secondary education and
34% on accessibility. That is in contrast to 55% who believe the government is not doing enough on
education, 37% on recreational services, 32% on access to post-secondary education and 33% on
accessibility."
"It appears there is a gender divide in opinions. Fewer women believe the government is doing enough
across all special needs services, nished Maggi.

ONLY WE
CALLED
THE
LIBERAL
MAJORITY.

I recommend "Raiders of the Lost Campaign Arc," released Oct. 18, because its an interview
with a pollster that everyone who follows politics should hear. Quito Maggi, of Mainstreet Public
Research, was the only pollster I saw call the Liberal majority with such condence, a week
before we voted.
Maggi also has the distinction of being the guy who predicted the BC Liberals would win in 2013,
in deance of the majority of the polls.
His technique involves picking a true bellwether riding and polling it thoroughly. His explanation
for how he does it is well worth a listen and should be required research for anyone running a
political campaign. - Shannon Rupp, The Tyee, November 4th, 2015
