of Saint Johns in Pine Meadow

Saint Johns mission is to nurture all people in their spiritual growth, in their Christian
education, and in their relationship with God.
April 2016

An Easter 2016 message from the Bishops of The Episcopal Church in Connecticut

Jesus said to her, "Mary!" She turned and said to him in Hebrew, "Rabbouni!" (which means
Teacher). -- John 20:16
"Alleluia Christ is Risen! The Lord is Risen indeed! Alleluia!"
This is the good news of the resurrection! With Christ's resurrection we are blessed with
God's gift of new life. In this new life, Jesus models for us and leads us in God's mission of restoration
and reconciliation. Jesus, calling Mary by name, shows us the intimacy and connectedness of this new
life. Jesus calls us by name and invites us to embrace his resurrection. And he also invites us to reach
out to our neighbors, calling them by name, connecting with them, and sharing the joy of this new life.
New life involves growth and change, the building and rebuilding of community, deepening friendships,
and connecting with companions on the journey. As we live into our new ways of being the Episcopal
Church in Connecticut, we invite you to reach out to neighbors, friends, and strangers alike, calling
them by name, sharing and hearing personal stories of joy and new life.
We also invite you to wonder with us what new relationships God might be calling us as
Episcopalians in Connecticut to cultivate and nurture as we re-imagine church and move forward in
God's mission. In these new relationships, what new names will you learn, what stories might you
share, and what might God be longing for you to hear?
Jesus calls out to Mary -- and to each one of us -- by name, inviting us into a new and deeper relationship with the risen Lord. Rejoice in that call to new life, and share this Good News!
"Alleluia, Christ is Risen! The Lord is Risen indeed! Alleluia!"
Faithfully,
Ian and Laura

PARISH REGISTER
SCRIP A way to help Saint Johns and simplify
your life! The Scrip Program is a simple way for
Saint Johns to benefit from your regular purchases
at select retailers at no cost to you. Here is how it
works: If you purchase a scrip card (gift card) here
at Saint Johns in the amount of $50. You receive a
gift card for $50 for that store and our parish receives a percentage of your card purchase. The gift
card is the full value of your purchase and we receive a donation from the retailer. It is that simple.
Stop & Shop cards are available on Sundays for purchase and a listing of many other retailers is also
available. Easter gifts, birthday presents and everyday expenses can all benefit Saint Johns and you
can save a trip to the store!

(Broadly Defined)

Let the office know about happenings in your own

life and in the lives of other parishioners, especially
hospitalizations, so Mother Cosman can contact
those in need of comfort.

items for the hungry that live among us. Donations
have been declining and the need is still great! The

brought to the church and placed in the totes in the
narthex and are delivered to the kitchen. Please be
generous in donating to this important ministry.

We hope that families will continue to join us to hear about those so important stories from the Easter season.
