Photography:
For the first photo, I brought out more
of the orange in the house to give
it some contrast (that day was very
foggy).

The second image was of our fish, Gil,

and I used the vibrance to show more
color and make sure to focus him.
For the third and fourth images I used
the macro option to focus specifically on
either the words or the bear.
For the fifth photo I focused the towel
to give it a sharper image and brought
out the vibrance in photoshop a little
bit to give it more color and look more
realistic.
For the last photo, I framed Tyler in
the left third of the photo.

Logo:

Hall-life: a guide to low carb eating

Description: Logo for an organization

Process: This was really fun to create
a logo in Illustrator. After trying out
several drafts and ideas, I took a vote
on which was the best. I chose the one I
liked best and which was voted on most to
refine. I refined the illustration and font
choices, working with colored fonts to add
to the color scheme.

Description: Letterhead stationary using

a personally created logo.
Process: I created the X logo using
simple shapes in Adobe Illustrator. I also
created an outline of an iphone with the
shapes in illustrator.
I used the angled rectangle to create
the shape for my business card. I added
the iphone on its side to makeup the
entire front side of the business card
with the company name on the screen. I
added the X logo to the left side of the
backside of the business card with the
company name. I added the companys
slogan lets build something together
for a title on this side. I then copied the
contact information to the right side.

Brochure:

Description: A three sided (trifold)

folding brochure.
Process: I split my layout into four
sections with the concept that the
three outer sections would be the
flaps of the brochure and the large
middle section would be the body of
the brochure.
For the image of the excited little
boy I used the quick selection tool
in Adobe Photoshop to remove the
background of the image and used
refine selection to clean up the
edges. I then placed the little boy
into InDesign where I used the text
wrap option to wrap my text around the
alpha channel of the image.
I created the logo in Illustrator using
the pen tool and then I placed it into
InDesign, in various places througout
the brochure.

Web Page:

Description: A web page designed to

showcase a personally created logo.
Process: After I marked up all my
content and inserted my image, I
attached my CSS document to my
HTML. I then used the colors from
my logo, and slightly changed them, as
the colors for my web page. I found
these colors by opening Photoshop and
using the eyedropper tool and moving
the color selector a bit lighter and
brighter. I also changed my fonts to
Perpetua and Optima. I declared some
backup fonts just in case the viewers
browser didnt have these fonts. I
also used padding around the logo and
text so that they would not be too
close to the edge of the web page.

Flier:

Description: Black & White promotional

flier to promote a graduate leadership
conference.
Process: I used inDesign to help put it
together. I used the FOCUS principle
to help me design this product by
sketching out to formulate my plan and
organize my layout.

Event Ad:

Description: A color full-bleed event

ad to promote a fundraiser using only
Microsoft Word and a scanner.
Process: I scanned the model image,
which left a blueish tint in the
background. I used Word to copy and
paste the background all over to make
it even. I chose a script font for the
title to give my ad a glamorous feel.
Programs I used: Microsoft Word,
Epson Scanner, PDF2JPG.net (PDF
converter).

Montage:

Description: An inspirational montage

made by the blending of two or more
images, and the use of typography.
Process: I found the image of the
family proclamation to the world and
made that my background. I added one
of my wedding photos on top and added
a mask. With black paint and a 100%
opacity, soft-edged brush, I painted
away the hard image edges. With a
larger black brush at 30% opacity and
30% flow, I blended the image into
the background, so it looks like he is
melting into the scene.

Photodesign:

Description: Demonstrate good

photography and image editing skills.
Incorporating color into a poster layout
with original photo.
Process: I first formulated my plan
by choosing a color scheme from the
Visual FOCUS book for my layout,
I decided on Tetatic. I went and
capture a quality photo with good light,
sharp focus, and nice composition. I
used my friends DSLR camera. I
then brought the photo into Photoshop
and used these specific editing
techniques: levels, sharpness,
saturation, and color balance. Then I
design an 8.511 layout that including
my photo, text, and repeating design
elements. I incorporate my color
scheme title, color swatches, and color
names into my design. I used the eye
dropper tool and adjusted the color
in the color picker to match a little
more accurately. I then created small
circles to look like water bubbles with
the color swatches.
