Introduction

1.1

Objective

What are you trying to accomplish? What are you trying to see? Why is it important?
Be specific.

1.2

Components Being Tested

What components are involved?

1.3

Relevant Information

Here you should include a concise and properly detailed description of the components you
are testing and the physics behind what you are testing. Include necessary definitions,
terminology, and key words.

Table 1: Required sensors and data channels

Sensors should be zeroed before running. Other sensor setup type words go here.

2.2

Equipment

List external things you might need for this test:

1. An extra person for timing
2. Ballast, ropes
3. Special measuring things

2.3

Vehicle Setup

The following should be prepared in advance:

1. How should the car be set up? List tire pressure, aero configuration, suspension
settings, diff settings, etc.
2. Be as detailed as possible to guarantee consistency!

Test Procedure

3.1

Track Setup

What tracks do you want to run and why are you choosing them? Describe in sufficient
detail. Remember that you want the driver to be consistent, so utilize shorter, faster tracks.
Diagrams would be useful here.

3.2

Testing Parameters

What parameters will you be changing? By how much will you change them? Why are
you testing these parameters (how do they relate to what you are trying to find out)?
1. List them out - with details
It is important to only change one setting at a time on the car and see how that change
effects the car. Big changes can be good!

3.3

Run Procedure

How many laps per outing?

How many outings per parameter?
Do you want the driver to do things differently in each outing? (e.g. different driving
techniques, driving more slowly, etc.)
How will you adapt the testing plan if something unexpected happens? (weather?)

4.1

Data Analysis
Analysis

Briefly restate what you are trying to find out. How will the collected data help you
accomplish your goal? What are you looking for in the data?

4.2

Relevant Equations

What are the relevant physics/maths equations that you will use to check your data or
predict trends?

4.3

Data Quality

What degree of error are you willing to accept? How will you know whether or not the
data is usable? On what basis will you be able to say whether the test is successful or not?

Conclusion

Why is this test beneficial to the car? How will this effect future tests and other subsystems?
How will this test effect the driver? Will this test effect the design of the car?
