Yard waste is collected ten times per year (see calendar)


There is no limit on the number of bags/containers placed at the curb
The maximum weight for each bag/container is 25kg (55 pounds)
Yard waste can be placed in containers marked with a Yard Waste Only decal that can be obtained for free
from Municipal Hall or Works and Utilities, or yard waste can be placed in kraft paper bags
Branches and prunings may be bundled together up to 1 metre in length and tied with twine or string

CURBSIDE YARD WASTE COLLECTION

Items such as glass, styrofoam packaging, plastic bags, paint cans, computers, small and large appliances, just to name a
few, can ONLY be recycled at the Summerland Landfill Recycling Depot located at 17202 Bathville Road, open Monday to
Saturday 8:30 am to 4:15 pm. Visit the District of Summerlands website at www.summerland.ca for a complete list of
recyclable items. If you cant find an item on our website that you think is recyclable, please call the Recycling Council of
BC (RCBC) hotline at 1-800-667-4321 or visit www.rcbc.ca to find out if that item can be recycled at another location.

Recycling is collected bi-weekly on your regular scheduled day (see calendar)


There is no limit on the number of recycling bags placed at the curb
The maximum weight for each bag is 25kg (55 pounds)
Use clear or clear blue bags, no sorting necessary; all recyclables can be mixed in one bag
Please ensure all recyclable items are empty, dry and free of debris
Multiple pieces of flattened cardboard may be bundled together and tied with twine or string
and must not exceed 2 x 3

CURBSIDE RECYCLING COLLECTION

Garbage is collected weekly on your regular scheduled day (see map)


There is a two bag limit per household per week
The maximum weight for each bag is 25kg (55 pounds)
Garbage shall not contain hazardous waste, recyclable items or yard waste
If you have additional garbage over the two bag limit you may purchase garbage tags at
Municipal Hall or Works and Utilities for a cost of $2.50 per tag
