Embracing Diversity with Pancasila in International Student Exchange

International Student Exchange is program organized by certain parties to


provide the opportunity for students to study abroad in given time period. Usually
students from different countries and the diversity of people are participate in this
program.

According to Deresky (1994) Diversity is a distinction between

members of the group in terms of national origin, language, religion, belief,


culture, age, physical ability, socioeconomic status, marital status, sexual
orientation, race, family situation and gender. Diversity makes the program will
be interest, because we will meet with people from all over the world and have
opportunity to promote own country, Indonesia. However, diversity can cause
some conflict and being sensitive if we dont have own control. Own control is
inside ours always remember that we are representating our country in other
country, so be a good Indonesian people.
Indonesian people have a national identity which must

be use as

guidelines whenever and wherever, named Pancasila. Pancasila is a national


personality who should be able to encourage whole of Indonesian people in order
to keep their running in the corridors. Values contain in Pancasila should be
implemented by the Indonesian people in daily life inside or outside country.
Overseas, we can implement Pancasila to embrace diversity of people in there so
that the relationship can be harmonious.
Pancasila have five silas. Sila is point of pancasila which taken by sanksekerta
language.

International student exchange :
First Sila : Believe in one supreme God

Believe in God Almighty

Respect to other Religion

Not to impose religion or belief to other students

Second Sila : Justice and civilized humanity

No Racism

Say no to underestimate other students

Make a good friendship with every student

Respect to others

Third Sila : Unity of Indonesia

Proud to be Indonesian person

Explain about Indonesia

Promoting our culture

Forth Sila : The democracy led by understanding among honorable representatives


from the parliament house

Respect to others decision

Cooperation and responsibility

Be a good leader in group

Fifth Sila : Social justice for all of the people of Indonesia

Be a simple and humble person

Do not acts detrimental to public

Caring friends
