It is indeed with great pride that I take this opportunity to present to you the Global
Investors Meet 2010 under the theme of Advantage
g Karnataka The Knowledge
g Hub of
Asia. Karnataka is one of Indias fastest growing states with a strong industrial base and
a vibrant economy. In recent times, Karnataka has forged ahead from its global
technology leadership to being the knowledge hub. The State is making rapid strides in
the areas of Information Technology, Biotechnology, Aerospace, Machine Tools, and
Research & Development.
The State Government has always provided an investor-friendly administration. To fulfil
the Vision 2020 for Karnataka, the Government has undertaken several progressive
policies to propel balanced regional growth across the State. The Government is
acquiring 60,000 acres of land across 5 Industrial Corridors. The State Industrial Policy
2009 14 is facilitating investment in large projects through fiscal concessions,
2009-14
concessions land bank
and single-window clearances. The SEZ Policy provides smooth flow of investments for
projects in Special Economic Zones. A special thrust to infrastructure is being provided
to cater to the needs of growing economy. Pioneering sector-specific policies such as the
IT Policy, Semiconductor Policy, Biotech Millennium Policy, and Renewable Energy
Policyy are also beingg implemented.

Medical tourism and wellness centres are beingg
supported by Government accreditation norms to ensure quality care. The Smart Grid
pilot project will be the first of its kind in the country leading the way for efficient, green
power.

TOURISM
Madikeri fort: Madikeri fort was first built by Mudduraja in the last quarter of the 17th
century. He also built a palace inside the fort. It was eventually rebuilt in granite by Tipu
Sultan who named the site as Jaffarabad.

Mahadevpet in Madikeri city. The royal tombs on a hillock to the north of Madikeri provide
a spectacular view of the town. Lingarajendra's tomb was built in 1820.
Pushpagiri Hill: Pushpagiri Hills, located at an altitude of 1067 m above the sea level in
Kodagu District, Karnataka, is part of the Western Ghats. The Harangi River originates from
the top of this hill. Covered by lush green forests, valleys, and hills, the area is perfect for
sightseeing

Omkareshwara Temple: Omkareshwara temple was built by Lingarajendra in 1820. It is


located very near to the heart of the Madikeri. The temple has both Islamic and Gothic
style

Raja's Seat: Rajas Seat, literally meaning Seat of the King, is located at the western
end of Madikeri and is a well maintained garden with a great views of the hills and the

Abbey Falls: Abbey Falls also called as Abbi Falls is located 1 km from the town of
Madikeri. The waterfall is located between coffee plantations with coffee bushes and
spice estates with dense bushes and green trees where the Kaveri river cascades down
a rockface.
Igguthappa Devara Betta: This is situated near Ayyangeri forest in "padithara valley".
Igguthappa Devara Betta is a lofty peak and is a pilgrim centre for the Coorgs in
particular and other Hindus in general. The deity Subrahmanya is called as "Iggutappa"
by the kodavas.
