Re: FNU GRADUATION CEREMONIES 2016
Greetings to you!
Please take note of essential details below regarding the graduation ceremonies that will be held in April 2016
1. Graduation Venue and Time
The graduation ceremony will be held in two sessions at the Vodafone Arena, Suva on the 22nd of April, 2016.
Session 1 is scheduled at 9.30am for the following Colleges and Centre and students are requested to report to
the arena by 8.00am
College of Engineering Science and Technology
College of Humanities and Education
National Training Productivity Centre
Session 2 is scheduled at 2.00pm for the following Colleges and students are requested to report to the arena by
1.00pm

College of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry


College of Business Hospitality and Tourism Studies
College of Medicine Nursing and Health Sciences

2. Graduation Gown
To hire the graduation gown you, will need to pay the full purchase price as a deposit, as outlined in Appendix 1.
A refund, less the hire cost will be refunded to you through your bank account after the gown has been
returned:a. Payment of Graduation Gown - Payment of graduation gown can be made at any FNU Finance office from
13th April to 18th April, 9.00am to 4.00pm.
b. Issue of Graduation Gown The issuance of the graduation gown will be from the Academic Offices
immediately after your payment has been made. Please ensure that you follow the timetable (Appendix 2)
for the collection of your gown.
c. Return of Graduation gowns - Graduation gown must be returned to Academic Offices from the next
working day after the graduation but within seven (7) days of the graduation; between 9.00am and 4.00pm.
If gowns are not returned within a week after the graduation ceremony, it will be deemed as been sold.
d. Refund of Deposit - All refunds will be deposited in your bank account upon returning of the gown. Please
ensure that following details are provided:
i. Duly completed refund form;
ii. Copy of bank statement;

iii. Hire/Purchase of graduation gown form signed by academic office, confirming that the gown has
been returned; and,
iv. Copy of your valid student ID card
3. Graduation Ceremony tickets/Refreshment Pass - You will be given two (2) guests tickets which are to be
presented by the guests for admission into the graduation arena. You are to collect your guests passes and
your refreshment pass from the Academic Offices on the day you collect your graduation gown.
4. Graduation Rehearsal - It is mandatory for ALL GRADUANDS to attend the graduation rehearsal which will be
held as follows:
a. Vodafone Arena, Suva on 21st April at 11.00am for session 1 students
b. Vodafone Arena, Suva on 21st April at 1.00pm for session 2 students
5. Assembling for Graduation Procession - All graduands are to be present at their graduation venue for
marshalling as follows:
a. Session 1 Graduands - Vodafone Arena, Suva, 8.00am at the seaward side
b. Session 2 Graduands - Vodafone Arena, Suva, 1.00 pm at the seaward side
c. You are required to carry with you a valid photo ID.
6. Seat allocation - Graduands are to be seated in allocated seats. Marshalls will be present to direct you to your
seat. All graduands must be seated in their allocated seats at least 30 minutes prior to commencement of the
ceremony until the conclusion of the program.
7. Special needs - Graduands who require special seating arrangement due to a disability should telephone or
email Aliyah Khan on 3394000 or gc@fnu.ac.fj, so that appropriate seating arrangements and assistance can be
provided. This is also applicable to female graduands who are expecting as well.
8. Graduation Refreshment - All graduands and their invited guests (2 only) will be provided refreshment

following the closing of graduation ceremony. Please ensure that refreshment passes are presented.
9. Job Placement - All graduands are encouraged to register for job placement through this link:
http://www.info.fnu.ac.fj/jobplacement/. It is a new platform created by FNU for graduates to search for jobs
upload individual details and CV which the registered employers will be able to access. You will also be able to
apply for jobs that a registered employer has posted on the website.
10. Photowall - A photowall will be located outside the Arena for graduands and their families to utilize after they
have received their certificates from the various tents. Graduands are reminded not to overcrowd the Arena or
the corridors or tents since session 2 graduands will be assembling for their graduation.
11. Photography Photographers from Caines Jannif Ltd will be taking graduation photos during the ceremony.
Photos will be displayed in their Victoria Parade premises on the same day. For the
convenience of graduates, they will have for purchase immediately, copies of individuals receiving
their
certificates, and of groups. They will remain open till late to facilitate this. Hence personal cameras and/or
personal photographers will not be allowed in front of the main stage and the ceremony area.

12. Washroom - It is compulsory to be seated and remain in the Arena until the graduation ceremony concludes.
Please return to your seats after washroom visits as security is briefed to escort and herd all graduands from
unnecessary movements.
Special Notice
1.0 Academic Dress (Gown) All graduands must be in their Academic Dress (Gown) for the graduation ceremony.
2.0 Valid Photo ID All graduands must carry with them a valid photo ID to be able to receive their certificates on the
day of the ceremony.
3.0 National Anthem All graduands and guests are requested to sing the National Anthem.
4.0 Mobile Phones All Graduands must put their mobile phones on silent mode until the formal ceremony is over.
5.0 Session 1 Graduands it is a humble request for session 1 graduands to collect their certificates and refreshments
and vacate the arena to allow Session 2 Graduands to move in.
