Mr. Mark D. Colone, V-President

Signature Sports Group
1300 South Mint Street
Charlotte, NC 28203
Dear Mr. Colone:
Each year UNC Charlotte awards major scholarships for academic
merit to entering freshmen. These scholarships include the Overcash,
Cameron, Colvard, Cone and Fretwell awards. Generally we receive more
than 300 applications for these awards and the top 42 candidates are
invited to our campus for an interview.
You can help us by considering being a panelist for this very
important process that will be held on Friday, February 16, 2001. A
panel
whose
members
include
UNC
CHARLOTTE
alumni,
community/business/state leaders, UNC CHARLOTTE faculty and staff, high
school counselors, and previous scholarship recipients will interview each
candidate. The results from these interviews will help determine which
students will be awarded a scholarship for merit.
If you agree to participate, you will be mailed academic biographies of
5-7 students that will include each student's SAT scores, GPA, community
service involvement and leadership activities. Reviewing this material would
probably require 2-3 hours of your time prior to the interview day. On
February 16, you need to be here from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and are
invited to a luncheon immediately following the interviews.
Thank you for considering assisting UNC Charlotte with this very
important process. You may respond by completing the enclosed reply form
or call me at (704) 547-2058.
Sincerely,

Lynn Raymond
Scholarship Coordinator
