Description

This course will discuss the assessments, exercises and tools used by
an occupational therapist as part of a post-concussion rehabilitation
plan. Attendees will be shown the various rehabilitation strategies
utilized by an experienced occupational therapist and will be given tips
to practically implement the content.

Target Audience

The target audience for this course is Occupational Therapists. Sports


Medicine Physicians, Primary Care Physicians, Nurse Practitioners,
Physician Assistants, Clinical Psychologists, Neuropsychologists,
Registered Nurses, Physical Therapists, and Athletic Trainers are
encouraged to attend to learn more about the multidisciplinary
approach to managing concussions.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

Identify commonly utilized rehabilitation strategies used by an


occupational therapist.

Describe a typical occupational therapy treatment session for


a concussed patient.

Integrate concussion rehabilitation exercises into clinical


practice.

statement of credit.

Continuing Education Credits


Athletic Trainers

by the Board of Certification, Inc. to provide continuing
education to Athletic Trainers. This program is eligible
for a maximum of 1.00 Category A hours/CEUs. ATs
should claim only those hours actually spent in the
educational program.

Physical Therapists

education credits to physical therapists for this course. You will
receive a certificate of attendance for each of our courses with
contact hours listed. Review your state laws to determine if this
training can be applied toward continuing education without
pre-approval.

Credits. You will receive a certificate of attendance for each of our

credits to occupational therapists, psychologists, registered

Rehabilitation Manager
University Hospitals

Dotti Thompson graduated from Stark State College in 1996 with an Associate
Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Technology. She returned to
school at University of Findlay to achieve a Bachelor of Science Degree in 2002
and then a Master Degree in Occupational Therapy (OT) in 2004. Dotti works
for University Hospitals as a Rehabilitation Manager, Certified Lymphedema
Therapist, and clinician specializing in Oncology Rehab. Additionally, Dotti is
an adjunct instructor for the OTA Program at Kent State University Ashtabula
Campus. Volunteer roles include serving as the Mental Health Special Interest
Section (SIS) lead on the North Coast District of the Ohio Occupational
Therapy Association (OOTA) board and as the Rehabilitation SIS Coordinator
for the OOTA. As a lifelong learner and advocate for OT, she recently became
an Accreditation Evaluator for the Accreditation Council for Occupational
Therapy Education (ACOTE). Success is not just what you accomplish in your
life, it is about what you inspire others to do.
