Developed and implemented the Academic Success Plan in collaboration with the Director
by facilitating focus groups, student surveys, and applying current student development
theory. This plan assists students who are struggling in school.
Advised students on university transfer processes, admission essays, and major-specific
requirements.
Connected students to resources in the community and at 4-year institutions to assist in
transfer planning.
Provided professional development training to TRiO staff on undecided majors. Presented
the most current research and provided useful strategies.
Worked with student Peer Mentors to assist them with workshop facilitation and
presentation skills, which led to weekly student-run workshops in the TRiO center

Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program
The Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program focuses on empowering youth between the ages of 11 to
14 through building their capacity for service in their community, developing literacy, and taking
ownership for their social and moral well-being. I served as a coordinator primarily in low-income
neighborhoods in Kent, serving a racially diverse group.

Facilitated weekly junior youth group meetings: create an inclusive environment for junior
youth to participate
in activities such as literacy development, service, arts, and healthy recreation.
Supported mentors of the Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program through training, field
visits, and
monthly reflection gatherings.
Collected quantitative and qualitative data about the program: attendance at group meetings,
frequency of
meetings, quality of interaction between the mentor and junior youth.
