2010 Summer Interns Jerome and Emily!
Jerome Dees
Hometown: Montgomery, AL
College: University of Florida
Most awesome thing I’ve ever done: The sum-
mer after my senior year in high school, I went on a 30 day
mission trip to the third poorest country in the world - Ma-
lawi, Africa. The country has also rocked by AIDS, leaving 1
million children orphaned out of a total population of 12 mil-
lion. The heart-wrenching, yet beautiful experiences that I had
in that country almost four years ago still have a profound
impact on who I am and how I behave to this very day.
Favorite Name for God: Jehovah Jireh/Nissi (The Lord
my Provider/ The Lord who is my banner, my Victory)
Favorite scripture: Joshua 1:6-9
Why I am excited to be here: Every now and again, God
provides us with those opportunities to make a profound im-
pact on the world, to intertwine our legacy with his. I feel that
this summer is precisely one of those moments. It is my hope
and my goal, that after this summer, UY will never be the
same again. I already see the heart to serve others and the
desire to grow deeper in His knowledge in these teens, and I
am thrilled that my job this summer is to continue them along
that path and help them mature into stronger soldiers for His
kingdom.
One last thing I would like to add... Go Gators! And
Waaaaaar Eagle Hey!!!

Hometown: Centerburg, OH
College: 2 yrs Lipscomb University and now University of Toledo
Most awesome thing I’ve ever done: Taken two
separate, two week trips to Ghana, West Africa. I spent my
time at the orphanage, The Village of Hope. The children and
adults there showed me God’s love, stole my heart, and taught
me so much about life.
Favorite Name for God: Abba – God loves me as His
daughter. He’s adopted me and invites me to call him Abba…
Father…Dad. Romans 8:14-16
Favorite Scripture: It’s hard to pick one, but of the
moments it’s Hebrews 6:18-19. The best picture of peace isn’t
a bird soaring through a blue sky. Rather, it’s a picture of a bird
in the midst of a raging storm holding tight to a mighty rock, an
anchor, and standing firm. God offers to be that rock of hope
for us!
Why I’m excited for the summer: I am so very
anxiously counting down the days until I am in Tuscaloosa! In
watching Lindsey and Logan become a part of the University
family I have seen and heard so many amazing stories. Lindsey
calls and brags about how awesome the Youth Group and
church are and I just feel so blessed that I get to spend the
summer with such wonderful people. I already feel so loved by
you all and I cannot wait to see what God will do with us this
summer!
