Hello to you all in and around Maunga-
turoto, linking hands have some excit-
ing news to share with you so without
much ado let me tell you…..
We have bought a new (actually 2nd
hand) people mover vehicle; it’s a Toy-
ota estima 8 seater year 2000. The

we think it’s like sitting in an aircraft but
much better seats. The air-conditioning
is wonderful and the engine is so quiet.
One of our drivers went to a lot of trou-
ble and time to find this lovely car and
also negotiated a great price. I won’t
mention his name as he would be em-
barrassed but I just want to tell you this
and make you aware of the commit-
ment and love our volunteers put into
linking hands to make it the kind of
service it is. So good on you team for
keeping us a nice friendly reliable ser-
vice.
This was paid for by the donations we
have been receiving from the commu-
nity for transporting clients that give a
donation and also local community
groups that have supported us over
the last 2 years….So really this car
belongs to all of you and is there for
your needs when you have a medical
appointment.
We are also now prepared to take you
to other appointments such as WINZ,
ACC, and IRD.
We will not take you to court or to
attend PD.
The other news is we have taken over
the entire building where we are in
Hurndall St, plus we have added an-
other computer to the internet service
and ….we also have coffee available if
you want one while you browse the
internet or check you emails or what-
ever you are doing…isn’t that great, no
longer will you have to queue up to get
on the computer….plus we still offer
senior net computer training for free,
maybe you should give that a go.
More news…yes more news.
We are now taking a group to Weight
watchers at Waipu every Thursday
morning. We have negotiated a slightly
lower rate for our people plus we are
giving you a small subsidy which
makes it more affordable. We transport

free…what do you think of that?
We still take people to Aqua Aerobics
twice weekly and at present we are
nearly full, we have to limit the num-
bers as we are funded for this and can
only pay for so many. You can of
course go along under your own steam
but its fun to go with the group. Sev-
eral of our long term aerobics people
are having great results, one of whom
has been able to give up her walker
and walk with just a stick now. This
kind of exercise is doing wonderful
things to old bones and joint problems.
One more bit of big news……We
have set up a sub agency at Man-
gawhai and at present are looking for
volunteers over there. We are taking
on board a lovely couple who are keen
to work with us and can house the old
Toyota Hiace health Shuttle over there
and run it in and around Mangawhai,
Langs, Waipu, and Bream bay. We will
also pick up clients and return them
between all the above places and re-
turn hospital patients home..

you is that we also now go to Ruawai
and Waipu, so remember to call and
book with us if you need to go to either
of these Doctors.
