1) GOD IS LOVE AND GOD IS JUST.

God is Love
“ … God is love.” (1 John 4:8b)

God is just
“ Maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin.
Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their
children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation.” (Exodus 34:7,
NIV)

“I, the Lord, will punish the world for its evil and the wicked for their sin. I will
crush the arrogance of the proud and humble the pride of the mighty.” (Isaiah 13:11,
NLT)

2) MAN IS SINFUL AND CANNOT SAVE HIMSELF.

Man is sinful

“As it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who
understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away; they have together
become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.” (Romans 3:10-12,
NLT)

“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”
(Romans 3:23, NLT)

Man cannot save himself

“For the wages of sin is death. But the free gift of eternal life through Christ Jesus
our Lord.” (Romans 6:23, NLT)
3) JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN.

Who Jesus is and what He did

Jesus both God and Man/ 100% God and 100% Man
“You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God,
he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his
divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human
being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal’s death on a cross.” (Philippians 2:5-8, NLT)

Jesus was without sin

“For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you
inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. It
was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. God chose him as
your ransom long before the world began, but he has now revealed him to you in
these last days.” (1 Peter 1:18-20, NLT)

Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead.
“I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed
on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he
was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.” (1 Corinthians
15:3-4).

Jesus Christ is the only way to SALVATION

“Jesus told him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the
Father except through me. (John 14:6, NLT)

“There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven
by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12, NLT)

What Jesus did

“ For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that
everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16, NLT)

“But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we
were still sinners.” (Romans 5:8, NLT)
4) TO REPENT AND BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS SAVIOUR AND LORD.

Repentance – “repent” means to turn away

“Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped
away.” (Acts 3:19, NLT)

“No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will perish, too.” (Luke 13:5, NLT)

Believe
“But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become
children of God.” (John 1:12, NLT)
“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this ; it
is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so
none of us can boast about it.” (Ephesians 2:8-9, NLT)

“He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because
of His mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through
the Holy Spirit.” (Titus 3:5, NLT)

A Prayer of Commitment
If you truly believe these truths, of what Christ has done for your life. The
Bible says in:
Romans 10:13 "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord
will be saved."
We call on the name of the Lord through prayer.

God knows your heart and is not so concerned with your words as He is with
the attitude of your heart.

What are you committing yourself to?

1. You believe that our Lord Jesus, came down to earth as a man, lived a
perfect life died for my sins on the cross, rose from the dead on the third
day and is now sitting at the right hand of the Father.
2. You believe that it is only Jesus, and Jesus alone, that can save you from
your sins.
3. You believe in Jesus as your Savior and Lord.
4. Believing in Jesus as Lord means following all His commands.
Justification by faith
“Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have
peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of
our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now
stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory. (Romans
5:1-2, NLT)

“So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith
alone.” (James 2:24, NLT)

Assurance
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes has eternal life.” (John 6:47, NLT)

How can you know that you believe?

A Simple Test that you know Him

“And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments. If

someone claims, “I know God”, but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person
is a liar and is not living in the truth. But those who obey God’s word truly show how
completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in Him. Those who say
they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did. (1 John 2:3-6, NLT)

Restoration
“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person.
The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NLT)

“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ
lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me
and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20, NLT)

“And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is
in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not
have life.” (1 John 5:11-12, NLT)

Baptism

(The immediate response for believers is to be baptized)

Acts 2:37-38

When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said
37

to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"

Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the

38

name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you
will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

(Jesus Himself was baptized to serve as an example for us)

Matthew 3:13-15

Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by

13

John.  But John tried to deter him, saying, "I need to be

14

baptized by you, and do you come to me?"

Jesus replied, "Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to

15

fulfill all righteousness." Then John consented.

Baptism doesn’t make you a believer – it shows that you already believe.
It is an act of true repentance..

Do not depend on feelings

The promise of God’s word, the Bible – not our feelings – is our authority. The
Christian lives by faith (trust) in the trustworthiness of God himself and His Word.
This train diagram illustrates the relationship between fact (God and His Word), faith
(our trust in God and His Word), and the feeling (the result of our faith and
obedience) (John 14:21).

The train will run with or without the trailer. However, it would be useless to
attempt to pull the train by the trailer. In the same way, we Christians do not depend
on feelings or emotions, but place our faith (trust) in the trustworthiness of God and
the promises of His Word.

Now that you have received Christ

The moment you received Christ by faith, as an act of the will, many things
happened, including the following:
1. Christ came into your life (Colossians 1:27).
2. Your sins were forgiven (Colossians 1:14; 2:13).
3. You become a child of God (John 1:12).
4. You received eternal life (John 5:24).
5. You began the great adventure for which God created you (John 10:10; II
Corinthians 5:17; I Thessalonians 5:18).

Is there anything more wonderful that could happen to you than receiving Christ?
Would you like to thank God in prayer right now for what He has done for you? By
thanking God, you demonstrate your faith.

Suggestions for Christian growth

Spiritual growth result from trusting Jesus Christ. “The righteous man shall
live by faith” (Galatians 3:11). A life of faith will enable you to trust God increasingly
with every detail of your life and to practice the following:

G Go to God in prayer daily (John 15:7)

R Read God’s Word daily (Acts 17:11) – begin with the gospel of John.

O Obey God moment by moment (John 14:21).

W Witness for Christ by your life and words (Matthew 4:19; John 15:8).

T Trust God for every detail in your life (I Peter 5:7).

H Holy Spirit – allow Him to control and empower your daily life and witness
(Galatians 5:16,17; Acts 1:8).

Fellowship in a Good Church

God’s Word admonishes us not to forsake the “assembling of ourselves

together…” (Hebrews 10:25). Several logs burn brightly together; but separate one
and its fire goes out. So it is with your relationship to other Christians. If you do not
belong to a church, do not wait to be invited. Take the initiative; call or visit nearby
church where Christ is honored and His Word is preached. Start this week, and make
plans to attend regularly.
