General characteristics
Universal titanium alloy with very good mechanical properties up to 400C, widely used in aerospace, automotive and
structural medical implants. Because of its aluminum and vanadium content, this alloy belongs to a + b titanium
alloys. Therefore it is possible to obtain various and complex microstructures, depending on the working parameters.
After solution annealing, this alloy can be age hardened. It should be emphasized that fabrication operations
(annealing, descaling) may increase the impurity level unless particular care is taken. This effect is irrecoverable.
The quality ELI ("extra-low interstitial - grade 23) is used for surgical implants.
Special care is needed along the process in order to avoid hydrogen pick up.
