Ancient Podcasts

Directions:

You and your group are going to create a podcast on an ancient civilization. Your
podcast should include, pictures, music, and narration. All members should contribute
equally. This means that all members should narrate, contribute a picture, and select
theme music.

Step 1: Based on the ancient civilization you are assigned answer the following theme
questions. Each member is responsible for providing narration for one of the following
questions.

1. How did Ancient Civilizations influence either other societies or modern society?

a. How did they effect other ancient civilizations?


b. How did they effect modern civilizations?

2. How did geography influence the development of civilizations?

3. How did belief systems affect daily life?

Step 2: After you have completed researching and writing your narration of your theme question:

1. Sit with your group in the computer lab


2. Have one person open Garageband
3. Click on Podcast
4. Save cast as Ancient Civilization: (your civilization name and number here)
5. Click create
6. Click on (male or female) voice track.
7. Click on Control – make sure the metronome is NOT checked.
8. When you are prepared to narrate: click on the record button (big red dot)
9. Begin reading your narration
10. When you are finished reading/recording click on the space bar or click the play button again
to stop the podcast from recording.
11. When the next person in your group is ready to narrate they should click on the record
button, and begin speaking.
12. This process will continue until everyone in your group has narrated their speech.
Step 3: Vodcast:
1. Locate pictures that correspond to your narration/question.
2. Post your images/pictures on your wallwisher wall.
a. Include your name, and what the image is

3. After all your images are posted on wallwisher open your podcast.
4. Drag and drop your images into the podcast track (the top track), in the order you would like
them to appear with your narration.
a. The images you add to the podcast track will appear on the screen while your
narration is playing in the background.
b. Determine how long you want your image to last on the screen by moving the gray
picture slide.
5. Once you have arranged all of your images to match your narration, save your
podcast/vodcast.

Step 4: Share (export) your podcast/vodcast:


1. Click on the Share Tab
2. Click on Export Song to Disk
3. Click on AAC Encoder
4. Click Export
