ISID (Institute for Studies in Industrial Development) has developed databases on
various aspects of the Indian economy, particularly concerning industry and the
corporate sector. It has created On-line Indexes of Indian Social Science Journals
(OLI) and Press Clippings on diverse social science subjects.
The Institute for Studies in Industrial Development (ISID), a sponsored institution of
the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), is a public-funded, noncommercial research and development institution in social science. ISID was set up
as an independent organization to carry on the work initiated by the Corporate
Study Group (CSG), at the Indian Institute of Public Administration, during the early
eighties. ISID has developed databases on various aspects of the Indian economy,
particularly concerning industry and the corporate sector. It has created On-line
Indexes of Indian Social Science Journals (OLI) and Press Clippings on diverse social
science subjects.

On-line Index of Indian Social Science Journals (OLI)

This On-line Index enables users to retrieve the desired information from a
cumulative computerized database of 125 Indian Social Science Journals in the field
of economics, finance, management, business, health, education, sociology etc.
Nearly, 1.95 lakh reference has been added to the database till date. The OLI allows
users to search and identify articles using string or keyword search in the title
and/or by author's name by indicating the name of the journal, title of the article,
name(s) of the author(s), year and volume number, issue number, and starting
page number. Every effort is made to cover the journals from the very first issue.
Press Clippings on diverse social science subjects
The newspaper clippings files are categorized under 58 subject heads. These
subjects cover not only economic news, catalogued industry and issue-wise, but
also important news and information on political, social and other developmental
issues. Each of the entries can be identified according to the title of the article,
name of the author(s), newspaper, date, nature of clipping (article/editorial/news
item, etc.) and main subject classification by simple string or keyword search.
Press Clipping files generated by the Institute, cover India's major 15 English
Language Newspapers and the press clippings are categorised under 58 Subject
Heads. These subjects cover not only economic news, catalogued industry and
issue-wise, but also important news and information on political, social and other
developmental issues. Important news items, articles, editorials and book reviews
are maintained chronologically since 1980-81 in the form of bound volumes.
Beginning from 1990, titles of important clippings in all subjects have been placed
in a database.
ISID Index to Indian Social Science Journals indexes around 224+ Indian Social
Science journals enabling users to search for references on the basis of string
(series of characters) either for author's name, or words in titles for selected
journals. Most of the journals are indexed from the first volume. Also indexes press
clippings taken out from 14 India's English dailies.
