Purpose of God’s Word
 Psa 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a
light unto my path.
 2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,
for instruction in righteousness:
 2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect,
throughly furnished unto all good works.
Our Attitude
 Psa 119:2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies,
and that seek him with the whole heart.
 Jer 29:12, 13 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall
go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And
ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for
me with all your heart.
 Act 17:11 These were more noble than those in
Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all
readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily,
whether those things were so.
Prayer for Understanding
 Luk 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that
they might understand the scriptures,
 Psa 25:5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou
art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
 Psa 86:11 Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in
thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.
 Mat 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye
shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
 Psa 119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold
wondrous things out of thy law.
Obedience
 Psa 119:34, 35 Give me understanding, and I shall
keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole
heart. Make me to go in the path of thy
commandments; for therein do I delight.
 Pro 1:23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour
out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words
unto you.
 Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
On Interpretations
 Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they
speak not according to this word, it is because there
is no light in them.
 2Pe 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the
scripture is of any private interpretation.

 1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the
words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the
Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with
spiritual.
 Isa 28:10 For precept must be upon precept,
precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line;
here a little, and there a little:
 Mat 18:16 But if he will not hear thee, then take
with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two
or three witnesses every word may be established.
 2Co 13:1b In the mouth of two or three witnesses
shall every word be established.
Man’s Wisdom
 Pro 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a
man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
 Pro 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of
knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
 Pro 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of
wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is
understanding.
 Psa 53:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no
God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable
iniquity: there is none that doeth good.
Trust in the Creator
 Joh 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe
in God, believe also in me.
 Heb 11:3 Through faith we understand that the
worlds were framed by the word of God, so that
things which are seen were not made of things which
do appear.
 Psa 118:8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to
put confidence in man.
