Learner Analysis
General Learner Characteristics:
The primary learners for this professional development course are 3rd through 5th grade
classroom teachers. The years of teaching experience range from two years through more than
twenty years. The level of education varies from Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood, Masters
Degree in Early Childhood, as well as Specialist Degrees. All learners are Caucasian and female.
Entry Characteristics:
All primary learners have at least a basic understanding of how to operate a computer,
Chromebooks, and are able to log into the schools computer network. All learners have received
in-service training in the use of their teacher page located on the school website.
Prior Experience:
While all teachers have incorporated Chromebooks into their classes for use with I Learn
programs, the majority do not use them for anything else. The majority of teachers do not
incorporate video creation in their lesson plans.
While there is a common misconception among learners that incorporating video creation into
their classrooms would be difficult and time consuming, the majority recognize the need. Many
of the teachers feel their digital skills need strengthening before they would be ready implement
video creation into their lessons. All learners expressed a desire to learn how to use WeVideo.
Task Analysis
A procedural analysis is the most appropriate for my instructional goal of teaching learners to
upload, create, and edit their own videos. By following a procedural analysis, I will be able to
identify what steps are required to accomplish a task. Utilizing WeVideo, learners will to upload,
create, and edit a video. WeVideo will allow each learner to customize their own videos. My
previous course work has provided me with the knowledge needed to act as the subject-matter
expert (SME) for my topic. My procedural analysis outlines the steps needed for the learners to
log onto their Google account and then the step-by-step directions to create their websites.
Learners will write produce a digital story
Learners will create a WeVideo account, connect account to Google Drive, and manage
