In Local News:

Jury selection started Monday for a Rockaway Township man who was

accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy by playing the “shower

game” with him. Donald Hertel, age 43, made the stand in the shower with

him while he sprayed hot and cold water on the boy’s genitals. The boy’s

parents called police after he told them he won the game by enduring the

water for 8 minutes and ten seconds.

Sayreville police tracked down a stolen car to find a warehouse sheltering

500-thousand dollars worth of stolen vehicles. A LoJack theft recovery

system signal led an officer to the warehouse where he was let in by the

owner. Inside, the officer found many luxury vehicles that were taken from

New York, Pennsylvania, and Arizona.

In National News:

A gunman killed a woman and injured two other employees at a Tennessee

hospital yesterday during a vicious attack. The man committed suicide after

the rampage and police have not yet figured out his motive. The shooter had

no connection to the victims and has never been employed at the hospital.

Arizona senators John Kyl and John McCain called for the deployment of 3-

thousand more National Guard troops to secure the Mexican border. Illegal

aliens who have already crossed the border into Arizona have caused an

increasing crime rate and about 17-percent of those caught crossing already

had U.S. criminal records.

In International News:

Iran sentenced three prominent political activists to six years in prison each

for involvement in the country's post-election turmoil Monday. The court

also banned them from any kind of political activity for 10 years. The three

are among more than 100 opposition figures who were put on a mass trial.

The trial has led to a dozen death sentences so far.

Rescuers freed three people Monday from the rubble five days after the

magnitude-6.9 earthquake hit China. Relatives kept alive a 4-year-old girl

and an elderly woman trapped by an earthquake under a collapsed house for

almost a week by using bamboo poles to push water and rice through the

rubble until rescuers saved them yesterday.

In Sports:

The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Chicago Bulls 112-102 to take a 2-0

series lead. Lebron James dominated the fourth quarter and finished with 40

points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists. Game 3 will be back in Chicago with the

Bulls looking to get back in the series.

The Washington Capitals defeated the Montreal Canadians 5-1 to take a 2-1

series lead. Alex Ovechkin scored a goal to help propel his team win. Game

4 will be in Montreal with the Canadians looking to tie the series back up.

The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Boston Red Sox 8-2 to complete a four

game sweep. The Red Sox are in big trouble dropping to 4-9 on the year.

The Rays are in sole possession of first place at 11-3 now.

In Entertainment:

The brother of Oscar-winning actress Mo'Nique admitted to Oprah on

Monday that he repeatedly molested his little sister starting when she was

only 7 years old. Gerald Imes publicly apologized to his sister who spoke

openly about the abuse recently.

Speaking of Oprah, the talk show host addressed the “so-called” biography

that Kitty Kelley is writing about her on Monday. Oprah wasted no time

saying that the book, which talks about the star’s drug and sex abuse, is

completely false.
