The ERASMUS+ Online Greek Course

What is the ERASMUS+ Online Greek Course?


The new ERASMUS+ promotes language learning through a
combination of language courses at the host Universities and online
distant learning. In this context, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
designed and produced the ERASMUS+ Online Greek Course. The
aim of this online course is to provide the exchange students with a
stimulating learning experience prior to their arrival in Thessaloniki.
The OGC is offered to exchange students with no knowledge of
Greek who want to acquire basic communicative skills.
Why should I enroll in the ERASMUS+ Online Greek Course?
The OGC is aimed to facilitate language learning, help you establish
a first contact with Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and other
Erasmus students, and give you a first taste of Greece!

It will be much easier to adjust to everyday life and make
contacts in Greece, if you already speak some Greek! Your time in
Greece will be more fruitful and your studies at Aristotle University
of Thessaloniki more successful.

The OCG is an easy and entertaining way to learn Greek. It
allows you to advance faster in the Greek courses you will attend in
Thessaloniki.

Last but not least, you get 3 ECTS for attending the OGC.
What are the main features of the ERASMUS+ OGC?
1. It is designed for absolute beginners.
2. It covers the A1 level, according to the Common European
Framework of Reference for Languages. The CEFR defines six
levels:
A1

A2,
B1
+
B2,
C1
+C2.

3. OGC consists of eleven (11) units. Every unit comprises four
sections:
a. the communicative situation
b. the relevant vocabulary and grammar
c. exercises and quizzes that result to a final score at the end of
the unit
d. cultural tips.
4. The online course provides blended learning: it combines selfstudy and interactive sessions with a tutor.
5. Assessment is based on a midterm test and a final test.
What are the technical requirements for the ERASMUS+ OGC?
The minimum technical specifications needed to attend OGC are
listed below.

Which are my obligations, if I attend OGC?


The OGC lasts 6 weeks. For the exchange students of the academic
year 2014/15 it will start on the 18th of August and finish on the
26th of September. In this time - span, you will work on
approximately two units per week and acquire the A1 level.
1. Every unit requires eight hours of self-study and is allotted two
days.
2. Every third day, there will be an online interactive section with
your tutor.
3. The interactive session lasts 45'. In small groups, you and your
fellow students will have the opportunity to ask questions and
discuss the unit you have already worked on.
4. The participation in the interactive sessions is obligatory. A
maximum of two (2) absences may be permitted.
5. A score is given for every unit. There is a mid-term test after the
first five (5) units and a final test after the completion of the
course.
6. You get three (3) ECTS, if you complete the course and pass the
mid-term and final test. You get two (2) ECTS, if you complete the
course, but fail the mid-term or/and final test.
7. If you complete the course successfully, you can directly enroll in
an A2 language course, when you arrive at Aristotle University of
Thessaloniki.
