Wednesday Weekly Newsletter

Through working together, the best is yet to come
www.wldps.com
Issue 28 27th April 2016

Dear Parents,
MESSAGE OF THE WEEK

Soon the Wednesday Weekly will be going digital. We have made efforts to obtain as many of your email addresses as
possible in order that we can send you your newsletter via a weekly email. We shall also continue to update it on the
school website as usual each week. If you still struggle to keep up with the information that we share, we shall have a
smaller number of copies available for you in the school entrance if you wish to take one. If you have not sent your
email address to us, please find the slip below to complete your email for the school office or alternatively send your
email address to shodgson@wldps.com. This will be a considerable financial saving to the school but also a
considerably greener approach to communicating with you.
YELLOW TEAM- WEAR WHAT YOU LIKE
Due to their fantastic efforts last term, our Yellow Team won the house team cup. They are therefore invited to attend
th
school this Friday 29 April in their own clothes but no earrings or heelies please.
RIBBLE VALLEY JUNIORS CYCLING CLUB
th

Ribble Valley Juniors Cycling Club will be running coaching sessions on Wednesdays starting on the 27 April, at
school. The sessions will take place 6pm till 8pm and run in 4 blocks of 5 weeks. The cost is 2.50 per session or pay for
5 weeks for just 10. For more information please contact go-ride@rvjuniors.co.uk or phone 07855267512. To book a
place please collect a form from the main entrance and email to the address above or bring it along on the first night.
CRICKET CLUB
The cricket season is fast approaching schools and if your child is interested in attending a club on a Thursday, please
complete the slip below by Friday. I shall be running the cricket club initially and will be supported by Mr Johnson in a
couple of weeks. I hope that this will be a popular club with a planned set of three district tournaments to attend this
term. Boys and girls in Years 4, 5 and 6 are welcome to apply for a place and if demand is high, places will be picked
fairly from a hat. You will be notified of your place next Tuesday by text.
RETURN OF TROPHIES
Please can all children who were awarded academic or sporting awards at the end of last term return their trophies to
school as soon as possible. These will be placed in the trophy cabinet alongside their photo at the main entrance of
the school.
SUMMER DINNER MENU
Alongside our new summer menu we will be offering a selection of sandwiches if the children would like them instead
of a hot dinner. Alongside the sandwiches children will be able to have potatoes of the day, vegetable or our fresh
salad bar. It will also include sweet of their choice plus a drink. If anyone would like any information about allergens or
any other queries please speak to a member of staff.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION FORTHCOMING ELECTIONS
