SJC PAINT BOOTH

Auto Body
Paint Booth and Prep Station Rational
The current paint booth was procured in the mid-1980s, the materials used in the
collision industry at that time radically differed from current chemicals and their
spray characteristics.
The installation and configuration of the current paint booth is not correct and it
greatly impacts the equipments functionality.
The substandard HVAC system does not clear the atomized VOC chemicals at the
required rate, therefore prolonged evacuation times become extremely problematic
when trying to cycle students through the paint booth. This is detrimental to the
students completion of the require curriculum based on their competencies.
The new paint booth/prep station will be completely compliant with all EPA, OSHA
and 6H requirements.
Maintenance will be minimalized therefore a long term savings is to be expected in
comparison to Band-Aid repairs being made on a depreciated piece of equipment.
The manufacturers warranty will safeguard the correct operating status of the new
equipment.
