Sixth Sunday of Easter

My Dear Friends in Christ,

Perhaps some of us remember one of the
times we were left alone by someone who loved us,
maybe by a relative or guardian. Or perhaps we have
had the experience of a child clinging to us as we are
trying to go out the door, pleading with us not to
leave them. Either experience may give us a hint of
the reassurance Jesus is trying to give his disciples in
todays Gospel reading.
Jesus has tried to prepare his disciples. He
taught them, gave them examples, prayed for them,
corrected them, called them and loved them. He tried
to reassure them telling them that his Father would
dwell with them and in Jesus name would send an
Advocate, the Holy Spirit, to them. An advocate is
somebody in your corner, backing you up. They
actively support you and believe in you. They are a
champion, a defender, even a guardian. And they
never leave you alone.
God dwells in us and the Advocate is coming.
The Spirit promised in Jesus name gives disciples
whatever they need to proclaim the Good News and
follow the risen Lord.
Yours in Christ,

our parish fundraising efforts too. Anything over the diocesan
goal of $10,300.00 stays in our Parish for specially needed projects. Last year it helped pay for the heating in our Church.
This year we are in need of outside lighting for the Church and
parking lot. Our Parish goal is to raise a total of $25,000.00.
The amount that has been pledged so far (as of April 25th)
is $17,383.00. Thank you for your support!

from our Ministries Faire was the start of a Prayer Chain.
These wonderful Prayer Warriors will be praying not only
for those listed on our bulletins sick list but will also be
available to pray for those special needs that may come up in
our lives. An example may be someone that lost a job and
would like prayer to help them find another. It is confidential
(you may use only first names if you wish) and also bilingual. Please call the Parish Office at (805) 467-2131 and they
will start the chain of prayer going. If you wish to be a
Prayer Warrior along with the others, please call the parish
Office as well.

Bulletin Ads: The renewal started April 1. Your help in

renewing or placing a new ad helps defray the cost of printing the weekly bulletin. Please call the Parish Office for more
information. My BlessingsFr. Pedro
