What is projector?
Types of projector

PROJECTOR
A projector or image projector is an optical device that
projects an image or moving images onto a surface, commonly a
projection screen.
Most projectors create an image by shining a light through a
small transparent lens
some newer types of projectors can project the image directly,
by using lasers.
A virtual retinal display, or retinal projector, is a projector that
projects an image directly on the retina instead of using an
external projection screen.

Types of projector

Slide projector

A Slide Projector Is An Opto-Mechanical Device For Showing

Photographic Slides.
Slide Projectors Were Also Widely Used In Educational And
Other Institutional Settings.
Photographic film slides and projectors have mostly been
replaced by image files on digital storage media shown on a
projection screen by using a video projector or simply displayed
on a large-screen video monitor.

components
electric incandescent light bulb or other light source (usually
fan-cooled)
reflector and "condensing" lens to direct the light to the slide
slide holder
focusing lens

working
When a figure or illustration is very small and it is required that
whole class should see it clearly , a transparent slide of small figure is
prepared.
slide is placed inverted into the slide carrier part of the projector.
The light rays emitted by the source of light and reflected by the
concave mirror lying behind the lamp, are directed forward to fall on
the condensed lens.

Lcd projector
An LCD projector is a type of video projector for displaying
video, images or computer data on a screen or other flat surface.
It is a modern equivalent of the slide projector or overhead
projector. To display images, LCD (liquid-crystal display)

projectors typically send light from a metal-halide lamp through

a prism or series of dichroic filters that separates light to three
polysilicon panels one each for the red, green and blue
components of the video signal.
Metal-halide lamps are used because they output an ideal color
temperature and a broad spectrum of color.

Working
At the centre of the projector is a halogen bulb which is
surrounde by 3 lcd panels.
These panels produce light.
As the halogen bulb heats up,the crystals melt and allow
more light to pass through.
Images travel to the tube present inside the projector from
the dvd player or satellite box
These images hit a surface coated with phosphor

Slide cube projectors

A slide cube projector is a type of slide projector that was
created by Bell & Howell .
The cubes are about 5.5 cm in each dimension and hold 3644
slides depending on the mount thickness.
Unlike the trays used in straight-tray or round-tray slide
projectors, the slides in a cube are not separated from each other
they are simply stacked one on top of the other.
The slide advance mechanism depends on a slide dropping from
the loaded cube into a slide-size hole in a circular plate.

Slide cube projectors were popular at one time because the

cubes were cheaper than trays and they allow for higher storage
density

ADVANTAGES

Large-Sized Picture
Saves on Space
Ease of Installation

DISADVANTAGES

Light Can Play Spoilsport

Costly Maintenance
Separate Speakers Required
