Water From The Well

A Newsletter of The Well Ministry
At the Cathedral of All Saints, Albany, NY

he Well is a new ministry of hospitality at the Cathedral of All Saints in Albany, New
York. The vision for this ministry is to provide a casual space where we can welcome our
neighbors in the City of Albany and share the love of Christ with them. The Cathedral
outreach team plans to open the door at 64 S. Swan Street June 17th, 2016. This space is
conveniently located across the street from the Cathedral with easy access from the street, so that
passersby on Swan Street can stop by. We wish to express our thanks to the Diocese of Albany for
providing this space.
We drew inspiration from the story of Jesus meeting the Samaritan woman at the well in John 4:142. It is the story of Jesus meeting and welcoming a woman who is an outcast in her community.
The conversation begins with Jesus simply requesting a drink of water and ends with him offering
the woman the living water that will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal
life (4:14). The mission of The Well is to be a place where conversations like this happen, where
people can gather over a cup of coffee, be welcomed in Jesus name, and hear the gospel.
This ministry could be thought of as a combination Christian caf and prayer center. Initially, The
Well will be open on Friday afternoons from 3 to 6 pm, with plans to expand hours as the ministry
grows. During open hours, anyone can drop in and enjoy the cozy coffee house atmosphere. A
visitor can have a cup of coffee, take one of the books from our small Christian library, and just
relax. Clergy or volunteers will be present during these open hours as well to offer individual prayer
or counsel in the Prayer Corner area. The open time will conclude with Evening Prayer.
As the ministry grows, we hope to use this space for various ministries, including lunch time Bible
studies, worship and dedicated times of healing prayer. The space at 64 S. Swan Street is versatile,
and we remain open to Gods leading as we consider new ways that The Well can serve God and his
Church. If you are interested in helping out in any way with this ministry, please contact me by

WAYS TO HELP
If you are interested in helping The Well get up and running, there are lots of ways to help.

First and Most important, we need your prayers. Ministry only works if we are constantly
seeking Gods will and relying on Gods provision. Please include this ministry in your
intercessions.

This ministry is entirely supported by donations. Consider making a donation of funds or

one of the items from our wish list (See the sidebar at the right).

Contact Father Paul Hunter and ask to receive regular email updates along with this
newsletter, so you can stay up to date on prayer requests and events at The Well. He can
be reached at revhunter3@gmail.com or (518)465-1342. Also, consider liking us on Facebook.

Consider volunteering to help during open hours, praying or just spending time at The
Well.
