This article is called Attachment Status And Mother-Preschooler Parasympathetic

Response To The Strange Situation Procedure. This is a perfect article demonstrating an
experiment that is related to the Attachment theory in chapter six, also this is the
experiment that Mary Ainsworth conducted called the Strange Situation. In this article,
an experiment is set up where a sample of 142 at-risk mothers and preschool-age children
participated in strange situation procedure (SSP) and provided time-synchronized RSA
(respiratory sinus arrhythmia) data. The SSP comprises 7 episodes and includes 2
separations from and reunions with the mother (Episode 1: motherchild; 2: mother
childstranger; 3: childstranger [Separation 1]; 4: motherchild [Reunion 1]; 5: child
alone [Separation 2]; 6: childstranger; 7: motherchild [Reunion 2]). The experimenters
were looking at the how each childs RSA would rise and drop depending on the different
episodes. This is a bit difficult to read, because there are a lot of scientific words used
within this article. The conclusions from this article support the Attachment theory

mentioned in chapter 6- showing that mother-child relationships are of upmost

importance.

Discussion Of A New Condition." Neurological Sciences 24.4 (2003): 252-257.

Chapter one of The Happiness Hypothesis by Jonathan Haidt talks about the alien hand
syndrome; which I found to be pretty interesting. This article: The Alien Hand Syndrome:
classification of Forms Reported and Discussion of a New condition, talks about this odd
condition. The alien hand syndrome is a fascinating diagnosis where people arent able to
recognize their own hand as a part of themselves. Most of the time, the left hand will act
on its own agenda; sometimes it will even grab their own throat and strangle themself.
The article also talks about a new condition called Agonistic Dyspraxia, which is an
involuntary movement of the right limb. This article was extremely interesting and will
help me in my quest to learn more about the Alien hand.

Chapter two talks about Affective Priming, which is subliminally presenting a word to
sway the first word to go either good or bad. The participants were undergraduates from

Amsterdam. The article is of four experiments of affective priming and how affective
priming works. This article was fairly easy to understand and extremely interesting.

Boyd, R. "Reciprocity: You Have To Think Different." Journal Of Evolutionary Biology

19.5 (2006): 1380-1382. Academic Search Complete. Web. 23 Feb. 2016.

Reciprocity is the act of exchanging things with others for mutual benefits. This article
was extremely interesting to read. Reciprocity: You Have To Think Different explains the
differences with reciprocity within our community. You have to think different if part of
the title and this article challenges you to take a different approach when it comes to
reciprocity.

And Young Married Couples." Sociological Inquiry 68.2 (1998): 163-185.

Chapter six talks about the difference between companionate love and passionate love.
This article is all about those two different love styles. It talks about the theoretical
differences between the two loves, because not much research has been done. Its talks
about what kind of love are better for a certain person, what the love means, and how it
will affect the relationship you are in. This was a very interesting article because I can
picture couples that are of each love type.
