    residentsareabletocastaballotinstateelections.Thispastweekendisanexcellentexampleofthesuccessoftheselaws.

    UnderNorthDakotalawandthefederalMilitaryandOverseasVoterEmpowermentAct,theballotsforthesevotersweredistributed
    thispastFriday,whichwas46daysbeforetheelection.

    AsofMonday,over269eligibleNorthDakotamilitaryandoverseasvotershadrequestedaballotand47ofthemhadalreadycast
    theirballotonasecureserverinthestatesdatacenter.Thefirstballotcastbyavoterwasatapproximately8:30a.m.onthatday.

    EachmarkedballotisthentransferredbythevotersCountyAuditorinasecrecyenvelopetotheelectionboardfortabulationon
    electionday.
