Profile of the Institution

Kumaraguru College of Technology is
one of the first set of colleges started in
private sector. It was established in 1984 by
Ramananda Adigalar Foundation under the
patronage and guidance of Dr.N.Mahalingam,
Chairman. The college is growing leaps and
bound in every sphere, year after year. The
college is located in an environmentally
unpolluted vast stretch of 150 acres, just at
the outskirts of Coimbatore. The college has
completed thirty years of its service with
excellent state of the art facilities and
committed faculty members. The Institution is
an autonomous institution approved by
AICTE, accredited by NAAC and NBA, ISO
9001 certification adds another feather to the
crown of the Institution.

The department started functioning

from the very inception of the college in the
year 1984. The department is having
experienced and well qualified staff and also
has well equipped lab facilities. In addition to
B.E degree course, a postgraduate course in
Structural Engineering is being offered from
the year 2003.The Department is also actively
engaged in R&D, testing and consultancy
activities.

Coimbatore, on 31 July 2015 with a view to
learn and understand the capacity of a
structure to anticipate, resist and recover from
the impact of an earthquake and the process
of restoring from their damage and to share
the recent earthquakes in India provoked the
need to realise the importance of earthquake
and its effects on structures, design for
earthquake structures and also retrofitting and
repairing of existing structures. With the
developing
trend
in
our
countrys
infrastructure, it necessitates on the pinnacle
to safe guard our assets and also human
lives.
